Senior Product Designer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to join a fast-paced digital product team on an initial 3-month contract. This role will focus on creating intuitive, user-centred digital experiences across web and mobile platforms, combining user research, UX design, UI design, and collaborative product delivery.

Location: Waterside (UB7 0GB) (2 days onsite)
Contract Length: 3 months initially
Pay: attractive daily rate (inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities

User Research & Insight

  • Support research activities, usability testing, and discovery initiatives to understand customer needs and behaviours.
  • Analyse research findings and translate insights into actionable design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with researchers, product teams, and stakeholders to validate assumptions and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Use customer feedback, behavioural data, and product metrics to inform design solutions.

UX & Product Design

  • Design end-to-end user journeys and digital experiences across multiple channels.
  • Create information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and interaction designs.
  • Develop customer journey maps and service blueprints to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Balance customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints when designing solutions.
  • Apply systems thinking to ensure a seamless experience across products and platforms.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners to shape product strategy, prioritisation, and success metrics.

UI Design & Prototyping

  • Produce high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes using Figma.
  • Create responsive designs for web and mobile applications across multiple devices and screen sizes.
  • Iterate designs based on stakeholder feedback, user testing, and delivery requirements.
  • Contribute to design systems, component libraries, and reusable design patterns.
  • Champion accessibility, consistency, and design quality across all digital products.

Delivery & Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Researchers, and Scrum teams throughout the product life cycle.
  • Facilitate workshops, design reviews, and collaborative design sessions with stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale and recommendations using customer insights and product data.
  • Support user acceptance testing, design assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Use collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or Digital Product Designer.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design and user-centred design methodologies.
  • Expertise in UX design, information architecture, interaction design, and user journey mapping.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma for wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design.
  • Experience conducting or supporting user research and usability testing.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience working within Agile product development environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with design systems and component-based design approaches.
