Senior Product Designer
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to join our client, who can design and deliver end-to-end digital customer experiences, from research insights and user journeys through to wireframes, interactive prototypes and high-fidelity designs. The ideal candidate will bring strong UX/UI, Figma, design systems and accessibility experience and be comfortable working within cross-functional Agile product teams.
Key responsibilities
User Research
- Leverage research and testing methodologies to refine and optimise early in the design process.
- Support Product Researchers and cross-functional teams by analysing research findings and synthesising customer insight into actionable design opportunities and product recommendations.
- Support hypothesis validation and evidence-based product decision making.
UX & Product Design
- Design end-to-end user journeys and service experiences across digital channels.
- Develop information architecture, interaction design, wireframes and user flows.
- Map journeys and flows, while also developing interactions from sketches through to polished experiences.
- Ensure design solutions align with British Airways standards, accessibility requirements and platform design patterns.
- Collaborate with internal Design & Research and Product teams to maintain consistency across products, platforms and services.
- Balance customer needs, business objectives and technical constraints to create effective product solutions.
- Apply systems thinking to consider the wider end-to-end customer experience across journeys, products and platforms.
- Use customer insight, behavioural data and product metrics to inform design decisions and prioritisation.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Owners to shape product strategy, define opportunities and evaluate success measures.

UI Design & Prototyping
- Produce high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes using Figma.
- Use prototypes, journeys, flows and other artefacts to explore ideas, validate assumptions and communicate design intent.
- Iterate designs based on stakeholder feedback, user testing and delivery team requirements.
- Create responsive web and mobile application designs suitable for development implementation across multiple device types, screen sizes, accessibility requirements and supported platforms.
- Contribute actively to the evolution, governance and adoption of BA design systems and component libraries such as the BA Global Experience Language (BAgel), available at https://britishairways.design/
- Define reusable patterns and components that improve consistency, accessibility and efficiency across products and teams.
- Drive adherence to agreed design quality standards, inclusive design processes and delivery practices across assigned product teams.
Delivery Support
- Work under the direction of and be accountable to the Product Design Lead responsible for the design function within their assigned tribe.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, developers and others in the scrum team throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure design intent is successfully translated into working products
- Facilitate workshops, co-design sessions and activities to build alignment across Product, Engineering, Research and business stakeholders.
- Communicate design rationale clearly through peer reviews, demonstrations and show-and-tells, and influence decisions using evidence, customer insight and product data.
- Support user acceptance testing, design assurance and continuous improvement activities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies as required, including PI planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of new features, enhancements and digital products.
- Use programme delivery tools including Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Teams for documentation, artefacts and product delivery management.
- Maintain consistency of user experience, interaction patterns, accessibility and design quality across multiple product teams.
- Follow and champion agreed BA design processes, accessibility standards and governance frameworks.

What’s in it for you?
- This is a contract till end of March 2027 (possibility of extension)
- A day rate, in-scope of IR35, either via a Hays approved umbrella company or via Hays PAYE
- This role provides a remote working access from the comforts of your own home and only going to our state-of-the-art office in Waterside, London 2 days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday)
