The Travel Mode Team
Travel Mode is a startup-style team operating within Tripadvisor. Our mission: Find market fit for a new product geared toward travelers who are in-destination. We move quickly. We embrace AI. We value learning over perfection. We are looking for an ambitious Senior Product Designer who specializes in native (iOS and Android) to join our team, help drive our hypothesis-based roadmap and play a major role in defining the vision for our initial MVP.
What You’ll Do
- Define Process: Co-own the end-to-end design process for Travel Mode within our iOS and Android apps, from discovery and abstract problem-solving to high-fidelity final treatments.
- Drive Experimentation: Work within a rapid experimentation culture, leveraging testing and mobile-specific analytics to guide iterative design decisions.
- Define Mobile Strategy: Shape and communicate a clear vision for the MVP, balancing big-picture strategic goals with hands-on execution.
- Simplify Complexity: Partner with Product and Engineering to turn complex guidance data, community contributions, and marketplace logistics into simple, one-tap mobile solutions.
- Native First: Champion user-centered design and lead the way in defining features and functionality that are uniquely native leveraging haptics, motion, location-services and interaction quality to ensure the app feels premium and responsive.

What You Have
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making in day-to-day work.
- Proven ability to operate effectively with a global-first mindset
- Extensive Mobile Expertise: 5+ years of experience shipping native mobile products. You have a deep understanding of platform-specific behaviors and know how to leverage them to create intuitive interfaces.
- Exceptional Design Craft: A portfolio showcasing high-quality, production-ready mobile experiences. You have a passion for the last 5% of polish - transitions, feedback, and visual hierarchy.
- Collaborative Leadership: A proven history of partnering with engineers to ship high-performance features, with a solid grasp of technical constraints for native platforms.
- Strategic Communication: Impactful communication skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, explain the “why” behind your work to stakeholders, and mentor the broader team.
- User-Centric Mindset: A background in using research, data, and jobs-to-be-done frameworks to advocate for the user and remove friction from the journey.
- Platform Knowledge: Deep familiarity with iOS and Android conventions, staying up to date with the latest trends and capabilities in the mobile landscape.
