Lead Product Development, Testing & Certification Engineer

Lytham St Annes, Lancashire – fully on-site
£Competitive
Permanent | Full-time

Cranleigh STEM is exclusively recruiting for an established British engineering company specialising in residential and commercial air-source heat-pump systems.

This newly created role will lead the development of the company’s next generation of commercial products, taking projects from concept through testing, certification, production and commercial launch.

This is not a maintenance, production or quality engineering position. It offers genuine technical ownership, considerable autonomy and the opportunity to become a key technical leader within a growing engineering business.

The role

Working closely with senior management, suppliers, test laboratories and notified bodies, you will:

  • Lead new product development projects from concept to commercial launch.
  • Develop commercial units based on existing heat-pump technology.
  • Design and improve electrical, mechanical and performance test rigs.
  • Plan and manage product testing, verification and validation.
  • Manage CE and UKCA conformity assessment activities.
  • Produce technical files, risk assessments and compliance documentation.
  • Work with notified bodies and certification laboratories.
  • Improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
