WhyteMatter Staffing Solutions

WhyteMatter Staffing Solutions is delighted to be recruiting a Senior Product & Digital Designer on behalf of an innovative and growing organisation operating across digital products, ecommerce and consumer brands.

This is primarily a digital product design role, with approximately 60–70% of your time focused on UX/UI across applications, platforms and ecommerce experiences. The remainder will span ecommerce design, brand development and wider creative projects.

We’re looking for someone whose strongest discipline is product, UX/UI or digital design, but who also possesses broad visual-design capabilities and enjoys working beyond a narrowly defined specialism.

You’ll collaborate directly with product, engineering, ecommerce and commercial teams, taking projects from initial concept through UX, visual design, prototyping and implementation. This is a senior individual-contributor position offering significant ownership and influence over how digital products look, feel and function.

What you’ll work on

A major focus will be a growing technology platform and its suite of applications, portals and operational tools. These include complex workflows, dashboards, analytics, ecommerce and marketplace data, supplier and retailer experiences, AI-enabled functionality and internal business applications.

You’ll also work across a portfolio of ecommerce businesses and consumer brands, designing customer journeys, Shopify experiences, campaigns and visual identities.

Product and UX/UI — approximately 60–70%

You’ll:

  • Own UX/UI design across web applications and digital products.
  • Translate complex business requirements into intuitive user journeys and interfaces.
  • Design dashboards, workflows, forms, tables, configuration screens, navigation and operational tools.
  • Create data visualisations and reporting experiences that make complex information easier to understand.
  • Produce user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
  • Work directly with users and stakeholders to understand the underlying problem.
  • Validate ideas through research, usability testing and rapid iteration.
  • Design responsive experiences across desktop, tablet and mobile.
  • Embed accessibility throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers during implementation and review completed experiences.
  • Help establish consistent product-design practices across the organisation.

Design systems

You’ll take an active role in developing and evolving a scalable design system.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining reusable components, patterns, variables and design tokens in Figma.
  • Establishing consistent interaction and visual patterns across applications.
  • Working with engineering teams to align Figma components with reusable production components.
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify products by standardising common interactions.
  • Balancing consistency with the specific needs of different products and audiences.
  • Helping create a coherent product-design language that can scale as the platform grows.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Ecommerce — approximately 20–25%

Working alongside ecommerce teams and consumer brands, you’ll:

  • Design and improve Shopify storefronts.
  • Enhance product, collection, navigation and search experiences.
  • Create landing pages and campaign experiences.
  • Analyse customer journeys and identify UX opportunities.
  • Use behavioural and commercial data to guide design decisions.
  • Support conversion-rate optimisation and experimentation.
  • Design experiences spanning acquisition, consideration, purchase and post-purchase.
  • Balance brand presentation, usability and commercial performance.

We’re particularly interested in designers who understand that attractive ecommerce design and commercially effective ecommerce design are not always the same thing.

Brand and creative — approximately 10–15%

You’ll also have opportunities to work creatively beyond traditional product design, including:

  • Developing and evolving brand identities.
  • Creating visual systems and brand guidelines.
  • Developing campaign concepts and digital creative.
  • Establishing art direction for new digital brands and experiences.
  • Designing key commercial and presentation materials.
  • Maintaining visual consistency across a portfolio of distinct brands.

This is not a production-artwork role. We’re looking for someone who can develop the underlying idea and visual direction, rather than simply resize or adapt existing assets.

AI and modern design workflows

The organisation is actively incorporating AI into both its products and ways of working.

We’re looking for a designer who is interested in using AI to explore concepts, prototype ideas, synthesise research, generate variations and test hypotheses more efficiently.

You’ll also contribute to emerging design challenges involving AI agents, recommendations, automation and dynamically generated interfaces. You don’t need to be an AI specialist, but you should be curious about the possibilities these technologies create.

What we’re looking for

Your portfolio and practical capabilities are more important than a particular degree or previous job title.

Ideally, you’ll demonstrate strong experience across several of the following areas:

  • Product and UX/UI design, including user journeys, information architecture, wireframing and prototyping.
  • Figma and design systems, including components, patterns and scalable UI systems.
  • Complex digital products such as SaaS platforms, B2B applications, dashboards and data visualisation.
  • Responsive and accessible design across desktop, tablet and mobile.
  • Ecommerce design, including Shopify, customer journeys and conversion-focused experiences.
  • Brand and visual design, including identity, typography, layout and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • User research, usability testing and iterative improvement.
  • Working directly with developers from initial concept through implementation.

You don’t need to write production code, but you should understand how modern digital products are constructed. Familiarity with component-based applications, responsive layouts, reusable UI components and the relationship between design systems and production software will support effective collaboration.

How you’ll work

Sometimes you’ll receive a clearly defined requirement. At other times, the starting point may be a business problem, an existing process, a rough stakeholder idea or something users are struggling with.

You’ll be expected to ask thoughtful questions, uncover the underlying problem, challenge assumptions and help determine what should actually be built.

You should be equally comfortable discussing a complex workflow with an engineer and developing the visual direction for an ecommerce brand.

What success will look like

In this role, you’ll help to:

  • Establish a recognisable and consistent design language across digital products.
  • Improve the usability and visual quality of applications and platforms.
  • Develop a scalable design system alongside engineering.
  • Make complex workflows and data easier for users to understand.
  • Improve key ecommerce experiences.
  • Introduce stronger research, prototyping and validation practices.
  • Help teams move from an initial idea to a tested interface more quickly.
  • Raise the overall standard of digital design across the organisation.

Why consider this opportunity?

This role offers an unusually broad design environment, combining complex business software, AI-enabled products, ecommerce experiences and consumer brands.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence products from an early stage, work directly with the people building and operating them, and take genuine ownership of the organisation’s evolving digital-design language.
