Senior Product Discovery Manager
Location: Bupa Place, Salford Quays or Angel Court, London
Permanent Contract
Salary: From £67,500 dependant on experience and location
Full time: 37.5 Hours per week
10% Management Scheme Bonus

The Role Holder Is Responsible For
- Delivering the Discovery agenda for UKI Product and Proposition to achieve growth and customer experience ambitions
- Defining and delivering the approach to gathering insights from across the market including competitors, market trends, future horizon opportunities and relevant adjacent sector developments
- Defining and delivering the approach to understanding the deep needs of customers and clients, and delivering ‘always on’ testing capabilities to validate needs for new opportunities and developments
- Running an ‘innovation lab’ approach to creatively develop ideas which solve identified needs or opportunities in a vibrant and high energy way, involving innovative and radical methods
- Structuring a process which regularly prioritises potential proposition opportunities based on customer need, ability to deliver, commercial value in doing so and other parameters as defined, aligned to business strategy
- Expertise on product, market, and competitor developments, using external (customer needs, legislation, economic climate, and competition) data deliver insights to Bupa’s product portfolio in the UK marketplace
You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By
- Transform the approach to discovering which product and proposition growth opportunities to pursue through a customer obsessed needs-based approach, driving rigour and best practice insight at pace to achieve outcomes
- Develop, maintain and govern the portfolio of discovery opportunities in the product development framework that best serves and supports the Bupa UK Insurance customers and can delivers competitive advantage for Bupa
- Ensure that each opportunity directly addresses customer needs and has the prospect of delivering good outcomes, ensuring that the opportunity has the best chance of success if it is designed and developed for launch in the market
- Plan and deliver synergies between discovery opportunities incepted by PD & PD and those incepted by other functions, elsewhere in UKI, the Market Units and Group to maximise the potential that these could derive to meet needs
- Identify ‘non-standard’ opportunities to maximise growth and enable Bupa to maintain competitive advantage
- Oversight, MI, reporting, maintenance, and evolution of the Discovery portfolio including implementing and monitoring the appropriate SLAs to enable an active/live view of all prospective opportunities, including those proceeding and failed
- Maintenance of core activities across the Discovery journey ensuring that they are reviewed and maintained and continue to meet all success criteria and align with the broader Product Development Framework and wider business strategy

Key Skills Needed For This Role
- Proven track record in researching and designing new products and propositions in a multi-functional environment by grounding in customer need, understanding the commercial opportunity and creatively exploring options to achieve.
- Experience of effective ideation, collaboration and creativity tools and processes.
- Experience of defining opportunities through strong collaboration with internal and external partners to maximise diversity of thought and potential outcomes.
- Strong relationship management with experience of liaising with other insight functions, external partners, product teams, distribution and other internal stakeholder relationships.
- Experience of influencing decisions at all levels of the organisation.
- Skilled facilitator and delivery of people and product inspiration, to unlock thinking and maximise variety.
- Ability to apply market knowledge and insights, along with personal experience into development of ambitious customer opportunities for filtering and prioritisation.
