We believe that small businesses need support now more than ever, and that Odeko is uniquely positioned to provide that support.
We're hiring a Senior Product Engineer who wants to own problems end to end. You'll talk to the people who have those problems, decide what to build, build it across the front end, back end, and data layer, ship it, and measure whether it worked. You will have the autonomy and authorization to make design, product, and architecture decisions within guidelines set by design and engineering leaders.
You'll build with AI agents as your default tooling. At Odeko, AI-assisted development is a professional standard and engineers are measured on how well they direct, review, and take responsibility for that output. This role assumes you already work this way and what we're hiring for is the judgment about what to build and whether it's right.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own product outcomes, not tickets. Take a problem from a café owner, warehouse lead, or account manager through discovery, scoping, build, launch, and follow-up, with a lot of autonomy in how you get there. We value results over process.
- Work across the full stack: React Native/Web front ends, Ruby/Rails and TypeScript services, AWS infrastructure, and the data underneath — moving to wherever the problem lives.
- Spend real time with stakeholders: sit with operations, join customer calls, visit a warehouse. Turn what you learn into decisions about scope, sequencing, and trade-offs, and be able to explain those decisions to non-engineers.
- Prototype fast and iterate toward the best experience for cafés and users.
- Build with AI agents as your primary mode of development: planning and decomposing work for agents, running parallel agent workflows, reviewing generated code critically, and maintaining the tests and guardrails that make agent output safe to ship.
- Raise the team's bar: mentor other engineers, share agent workflows and prompts that work, and contribute to our AI engineering standards.
About you:
Essential:
- 6–10+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent), with a track record of shipping and operating production applications.
- Demonstrated product ownership: you can point to things you've shipped where you made the calls on scope and design, not just implementation. You've worked directly with customers or operations staff and changed what you built as a result.
- Proven expertise across our core stack — TypeScript/JavaScript, React Native/Web, Ruby/Rails, AWS, CI/CD — and distributed application architecture. You don't need to be equally deep everywhere, but you need to be comfortable everywhere.
- AI-native development as your default practice. Concretely: you use an agentic coding tool (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor agent mode, or similar) to produce the majority of your code; you plan and decompose work so agents can execute it; you review agent output with the same rigor as a colleague's PR and own the result. We'll ask you to demonstrate this live in the interview loop.
- Strong written and verbal communication with product, design, and operations audiences. You can explain a technical trade-off to a warehouse manager and a business trade-off to an engineer.
- Experience in a startup or similarly fast-moving, innovative environment with a track record of delivering scalable, mission-critical production applications.

Desirable:

- Familiarity with Ruby/Rails, React, Federated GraphQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and NetSuite.
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, marketplace, or other operations-heavy products.
- Design sensibility: comfortable making reasonable UI decisions without waiting for a mockup.
