Senior / Staff Product Engineer (Backend)
š London (Hybrid)
My client is looking for a Senior or Staff Backend Product Engineer who loves building products from the ground up, solving complex technical challenges, and shipping features that have a real impact.
This is an opportunity to join a high-performing engineering team where you'll have genuine ownership, influence product direction, and help shape the future of an AI-first platform.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and scaling backend systems to support rapid growth
- Building robust APIs and distributed services
- Developing infrastructure that powers AI-driven features
- Improving database performance, reliability and scalability
- Enhancing monitoring, observability and platform resilience
- Working closely with Product and Design to deliver customer-focused features
- Taking ideas from concept through MVP to production, iterating quickly based on user feedback

- Strong experience building backend products in modern cloud environments
- A product mindsetāyou enjoy creating, not just maintaining
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with plenty of ownership
- Experience taking products from idea to MVP and beyond
- Someone who ships quickly, learns from users and iterates fast
- Entrepreneurial mindset (founders, side projects or startup experience is a big plus)
- Interest in AI and experience building or integrating AI-powered products
- Excellent collaboration skills with engineers, designers and product teams
