Grow with Treefera

We are a first-mile intelligence platform, delivering granular visibility into the point of origin in global ag & soft commodity supply chains - where risk, cost, performance and exposure are set.

You’ll join a global, cross-functional team that values rigour, curiosity and working close to real-world challenges. Whether your focus is AI, climate, product or operations, you’ll have space to contribute meaningfully and make an impact from day one.

If you’re excited by complex problems and want to help reshape how nature is valued in real-world decision-making, we’d love to hear from you.

Role overview

Treefera is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to strengthen delivery capacity in Environmental Intelligence at a point where the team needs greater resilience, broader end-to-end ownership, and faster iteration across product, platform and customer-facing outcomes. You're polyglot by instinct — Python is your primary language, but you're not constrained by it, and you reach for whatever the problem and Treefera's existing platform demand. This role exists to turn ambiguous ideas into shipped software across UI, API and pipeline work, solving problems independently and working within existing platform constraints and architecture, while helping the team improve how it builds, documents and scales what works.

Your work will help Treefera ship impactful product improvements faster and turn promising ideas into usable outcomes.

Who you are

You are a polyglot engineer with deep expertise in Python as your primary language, and the range and judgement to pick up whatever language, framework or tool the problem calls for — you are not constrained to a single stack.

You solve problems without needing guidance: given an ambiguous brief, you make sensible default decisions, fill in the gaps yourself, and get on with the work rather than waiting for perfect structure.

You communicate your thinking clearly, document approaches well, and collaborate constructively through feedback and code review.

You know how to fit your solutions into existing platform constraints and architecture, extending and evolving systems thoughtfully rather than defaulting to a rewrite.

You thrive in a fast-moving startup environment where priorities can shift quickly, delivery pace matters, and you're trusted to set your own direction within it.

You use AI productively in development and can clearly explain your choices, trade-offs and outputs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Desirable requirements (if applicable):

  • Experience with geospatial data, GIS, remote sensing or Earth Observation.
  • Familiarity with Postgres and PostGIS.
  • Experience across data pipelines, Python APIs, database management, and application or visualisation work.
  • Exposure to scientific Python tooling such as NumPy, GeoPandas or Xarray.
  • Familiarity with other languages and frameworks such as Typescript, React, or NestJS — you pick up what the codebase needs rather than sticking to one stack.

What the job involves

  • Build and maintain software across user interfaces, APIs and supporting pipelines → delivering usable product outcomes end to end.
  • Turn emerging ideas into MVPs and proof-of-concepts quickly → enabling faster customer feedback and iteration toward product–market fit.
  • Own implementation and architectural decisions within your scope, working within and evolving Treefera's existing platform constraints and architecture → helping the team move with speed under ambiguity.
  • Support work beyond release through maintenance, documentation and operational follow-through → improving reliability and adoption.
  • Contribute to how engineering works across the wider team through code review, mentoring and practical tooling improvements → raising quality and effectiveness over time.
  • Demo and enable work so that product progress translates into commercial and customer impact → helping strong technical work land successfully.

What success looks like

In your first phase, you will build enough context to deliver meaningful end-to-end work into production, including ambiguous problems that require judgement rather than tightly defined tickets. As you become established, you will contribute beyond your immediate pod through stronger code review, documentation, tooling or process improvements that make delivery more effective. Over time, success will be visible in the quality of your unprompted contributions: better ways of working, smarter technical decisions, and product or platform improvements that help Treefera ship faster, respond better, and create stronger outcomes for customers.

Interview process & what to expect

  • Recruiter screen (30–45 min)
  • Hiring manager & Collaborative technical session (45-60 min)
  • Final cross-functional or executive conversation (If applicable). (30-45 min)
