Description & Requirements
Bloomberg’s Legal, Compliance & Risk Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations around the world. We move quickly and thoughtfully to help address a variety of complex legal, regulatory, and compliance issues that arise across the Company’s various businesses. Our team is made up of talented and hardworking professionals who think creatively and work collaboratively in an open environment to deliver results, drive innovation, and solve difficult problems. We also recognize the value of diversity and inclusion in cultivating a supportive workplace and the importance of giving back to our communities as evidenced by our award-winning pro bono program.
Bloomberg’s Risk & Compliance Technology team builds the technology that determines how clients are onboarded, screened, and granted access to Bloomberg products — protecting our regulatory standing while enabling the commercial business.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to shape product strategy and be accountable for outcomes across Bloomberg’s Client Compliance capabilities, based in our London office.
This is a role for someone who can hold regulatory risk and commercial reality in the same frame — shaping solutions across KYC, sanctions and export controls, and client eligibility in a way that satisfies Compliance’s obligations without unnecessarily slowing the business down.
You will work in a durable, cross-functional product team with direct access to users and key stakeholders — and the mandate to discover the best solutions to business problems — including the work of clarifying and aligning on what those problems actually are, since they aren't always fully defined up front. Within that team, you will operate with real autonomy: setting priorities jointly with the engineering lead, using AI to accelerate discovery and prototyping, and making timely trade-offs based on evidence rather than waiting for broad consensus.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is an individual contributor role today: ownership splits by expertise, not hierarchy. The engineering lead owns architecture, feasibility, and delivery; you own problem framing, discovery, business viability, and outcome accountability — with engineers expected to help shape solutions, not just implement them. That split makes your own leadership essential: leading without authority, through focus, evidence, and genuine partnership with engineering. The problems here are genuinely hard, and the mandate is to raise the standard, not maintain it.
We’ll Trust You To
- Build deep knowledge of users, workflows, and data by spending time with Compliance teams and other key internal partners to ground product decisions
- Translate strategy into a small number of important problems and measurable outcomes, including what the team will not pursue
- Partner with a senior engineering lead from problem framing through discovery, delivery, and measurement — bringing engineers into user and stakeholder learning
- Use prototypes, product data, and AI-assisted methods to test value, usability, feasibility, and viability before committing significant engineering time
- Earn trust with Compliance and key partners by involving them early and resolving tension with evidence — not by turning requests into a feature roadmap
- Be accountable for outcomes: reduce avoidable manual review, improve decision accuracy and control effectiveness, and enable faster client access without weakening regulatory defensibility
- Shape modernization — including legacy migrations, vendor dependencies, and build-vs-buy choices — around the outcomes Bloomberg needs
You’ll Need To Have
- Evidence of owning a technology-powered product area end-to-end — shaping strategy, discovering solutions, and being accountable for outcomes, not roadmap delivery
- Demonstrated product judgment grounded in user understanding, data, business context, and enabling technology
- Experience with modern product discovery and delivery, including rapid prototyping, testing assumptions, and measuring whether released products achieved intended outcomes
- Ability to frame and solve hard problems under significant regulatory, operational, and technical constraints without a fully scoped brief
- A track record of peer-level partnership with engineering
- Ability to earn trust and drive decisions across complex stakeholder environments through data, logic, and clear communication
- Curiosity and learning agility to become genuinely fluent in regulatory frameworks and operational systems
- Experience defining outcome measures and using data — through instrumenting, collecting, and analyzing it — to size the scope and opportunity of a problem, sharpen focus on which solutions are worth testing, and confirm whether those solutions actually moved the intended outcome, rather than treating delivery itself as the goal
- Practical fluency with AI tools for discovery and prototyping, paired with sound judgment about reliability
