About The Team

The Product Management team is part of the Product Design team and sits within the Digital and Technology Directorate. The Directorate has over 200 staff, supplemented by external contractors and third-party resources as necessary. We have an exciting portfolio of services with internal and external users, and further services in our development pipeline.

Product Managers work across a diverse range of services, from customer-facing digital products used by millions of customers to internal services that support the delivery of Companies House's wider objectives. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, helping to shape priorities, manage competing demands and deliver improvements that provide value to users and the organisation.

Job Description

As Senior Product Manager you will play a key role in the design, delivery and management of Companies House Products and Services. You will:

  • Take ownership of the direction, priorities and outcomes for one or more products or services, making sure they meet user needs and support Companies House objectives.
  • Lead product work from Discovery through delivery, helping teams understand problems, identify opportunities and focus on delivering value.
  • Work with Service Owners, Service Managers, Senior Responsible Owners and other stakeholders to shape the service vision, agree priorities, plan improvements and develop future roadmaps.
  • Use evidence from user feedback, research, data and service performance to make decisions and improve products and services.
  • Work closely with delivery teams and other professions to ensure work is understood, prioritised appropriately and delivers value to users and the organisation.
  • Identify, manage and communicate significant risks, dependencies and issues, ensuring stakeholders have the information they need to make informed decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Build strong relationships across Companies House to improve collaboration, align priorities and support successful delivery across services.
  • Support commercial, procurement and supplier-management activities, helping delivery partners meet agreed outcomes and standards.
  • Recruit, lead, coach and develop Product Managers, supporting their growth and helping maintain high product management standards across the profession.
  • Support the Head of Product Management with workforce planning, capability development and improving the Product Management profession.
  • Lead and contribute to Communities of Practice, knowledge sharing, professional development initiatives and cross-profession collaboration.
  • Support Service Standard Assessments and assurance activities, ensuring products and services meet government and organisational standards.

We're looking for the following skills and experience that will be assessed throughout the selection process.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Experience of product leadership, developing people and applying technical understanding to make effective product decisions.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing individuals and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proven track record of owning product decisions, setting priorities and delivering successful products and services.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence decisions and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and balancing user needs, business objectives, operational requirements and delivery constraints in a complex environment.
  • Experience using user research, data and service performance insights to identify improvements and make evidence-based decisions.
  • Strong experience identifying, managing and communicating risks, issues and dependencies to support informed decision-making.
  • Experience delivering products and services using agile ways of working and supporting teams to work effectively in agile environments.
  • Experience working in a technical environment, with an understanding of modern technology, software development and collaboration with technical specialists.
