Senior Product Manager

The Senior Product Manager is a customer-centric advocate for specific customers of products and systems and is responsible for identifying and executing against opportunities. Their main responsibility is to enhance the end-to-end experience with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction and positively impacting the company’s revenue growth and other goals.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to our Southfield, Michigan office may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at our Southfield, Michigan office if requested by the team member.
  • Advocates for the end user and stakeholder by empathizing and understanding user needs, remaining focused on desired outcomes, and becoming the domain expert.
  • Analyzes data through the lens of the customer and identifies goals, metrics/key performance indicators, and analytics to determine product value; continually making recommendations and refinements to the product backlog based on learnings, leading to continued improvement in owned metrics/key performance indicators.
  • Creates an environment where the entire team is immersed in customer-first thinking and turns customer insights into actionable strategies and priorities across products.
  • Takes ownership of business results and being a day-to-day decision maker, including communicating with and influencing key partners and stakeholders to deliver winning product experiences and outcomes.
  • Conducts and monitors research as well as the competitive landscape to recommend the best solutions and ensure that products remain or become best in class.
  • Focuses on innovation and the disruption of status quo to identify improvements and new opportunities to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Ensures the team is utilizing data with the right metrics to drive customer outcomes and ensures the right analysis is being done to prioritize appropriately.
  • Effectively collaborates with technical and design teams to use the best modern technologies and deliver amazing products to market efficiently with quality.
  • Has a deep understanding of product objectives and priorities and translates product concepts into user stories, epics, and other appropriate product deliverables while identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Owns their product and is responsible for the delivery of that product and associated projects on time, on budget, on strategy, and with a superior level of quality and performance. Has a deep, end-to-end understanding of their products and how it fits into the business and is able to identify what impacts will occur due to other changes in the business.
  • Proactively learns and recommends new technologies as a result of actively participating in technology/product forums as a product leader.
  • Serves as the visionary to set vision and direction and champions high-impact outcomes; acts as a bridge between strategy and execution to translate plans into action, iterating as necessary.
  • Champion of the end-to-end platform and is an expert in the systems and users they support; uses this knowledge to generate new ideas and support development, launch, and adoption of these new ideas.
  • Drives continuous improvement of the product management process by documenting and reviewing processes and procedures.
  • Consistently inspires, motivates and develops others beyond their immediate team and achieves high quality results through others, including cross-functional or virtual teams.
  • Acts as a role model and provides peer coaching to develop other Product Managers.

Requirements:

  • College degree or recent equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Product Manager or related position.
  • Customer-first mindset, always keeping the customer’s interest in mind when making decisions.
  • Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Integration mind-set and approach to ensure product dependencies and integration points are understood and delivered across product lines.
  • Inherently curious, results-driven with the ability to make difficult decisions, ask probing questions and look for root causes, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, especially the ability to clarify and simplify complex topics.
  • Organized self-starter who develops plans and is committed to hitting delivery dates; ability to perform with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Experience working according to Agile principles, sprint-based approaches, taking a prioritized, pragmatic approach to ensure the correct product gets built and delivered on time.
  • Experience using data mining tools, customer experience management software, and direct observation to identify user behavior, design, and refine product features.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve business key performance indicators through product management.
  • Basic knowledge of product proposals, product roadmaps and customer journey maps.
  • Quick thinker, with an ability to understand and interpret information promptly and effectively.
  • Excellent leadership and persuasion skills and the ability to lead through influence without direct authority.
  • Experience interacting with people at all levels of an organization, including Executive Management.
  • Proficiency with standard MS productivity tools (Office, Visio, and Project), web analytics and pathing tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Suite, Tea Leaf, Real Story), collaboration tools (e.g. Mural, Miro), Product management (e.g. Jira, Rally, etc.).
  • Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time.

Targeted Compensation:

$165,000 - $190,000 base salary + an annual bonus plan.
