About The Role

BT sits at the heart of the UK’s digital economy, connecting millions of people, businesses and critical public services. As new wave of connected devices emerge, from autonomous systems and physical AI to software-defined infrastructure and as our existing network becomes more intelligent, the role of the network is shifting from connectivity to intelligence. This role is at the centre of that shift.

We are recruiting a Senior Product Manager in Frontier Tech (e.g. Quantum, Cyber, Agentic AI) which will be based in the Connected Solutions team in Etc. You will define, introduce and scale products that unlock new sources of value from BT’s network, data and platforms. You will work on problems that matter at national scale — shaping how enterprises operate, how industries digitise, and how emerging technologies are adopted in the real world.

This is not a feature delivery role. You will own complex, ambiguous problem spaces and turn them into commercially viable, scalable products that contribute to BT’s future growth.

What makes this role different:

  • You will work on products built on one of the UK’s largest and most critical digital platforms
  • You will operate in high-ambiguity spaces where the problems are not yet fully defined
  • You will take products from concept through to national-scale deployment
  • You will help define how a major organisation evolves from connectivity provider to platform and product innovator
  • You will shape what AI-native product development looks like in a large-scale, real-world environment

What You’ll Be Doing

You are accountable for defining product direction and delivering measurable outcomes within a strategically important domain. You operate where customer need, technological possibility and commercial value intersect — making clear, evidence-led decisions about where BT should play and how we win.

You will lead through influence and clarity, not hierarchy — aligning cross-functional teams around the most important problems, making trade-offs explicit, and ensuring effort is focused on what drives the greatest impact.

You will take products from early-stage exploration through to scaled adoption — using AI-enabled approaches to accelerate discovery, prototyping and delivery, reducing time to market and improving product quality.

What you will be accountable for:

  • Define product vision, strategy and commercial outcomes Own the vision and strategy for your product area, translating customer needs and emerging technology into clear product direction. You are accountable for outcomes — including adoption, revenue growth and strategic impact — not just delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Own the problem space and investment choices Frame and continuously refine the problems that matter most. Make clear, evidence-based decisions on where to invest — and where not to — balancing customer value, commercial return, risk and effort.

  • Lead discovery, learning and AI-accelerated decision making Drive continuous discovery with Design and Engineering, using research, data and experimentation to test assumptions and reduce risk. Use AI to synthesise insight, generate and test concepts, and accelerate learning cycles — ensuring decisions are grounded in evidence, not opinion.

  • Build AI-native products and ways of working Leverage AI both within products and across the product development lifecycle. Use AI to accelerate how products are conceived, designed and built — from insight generation and prototyping through to engineering and optimisation. Define what high-quality, AI-native product development looks like at BT, balancing speed with strong standards for data quality, model performance, trust and human oversight.

  • Drive products from incubation to scale Work across the full lifecycle — from early concept through to scaled deployment. Partner with commercial, operational and product teams to transition successful products into customer-facing business units and deliver real-world adoption at scale.

  • Champion customer value and product quality Ensure products solve real customer problems and deliver high-quality, coherent experiences. Set a high bar for usability, accessibility and adoption, working closely with Design to maintain consistency as products scale.

  • Lead through influence and clarity Operate effectively in a complex organisation, aligning stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Commercial and Operations. Provide clarity in ambiguous situations and build confidence through transparent decision-making and measurable progress.
