If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Product Manager, Sandboxes.

As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll own and evolve our enterprise sandbox capability within the developer portal. This role is accountable for creating secure, scalable, and production-representative sandbox capabilities that enable external developers, partners, fintechs, and internal engineering teams to rapidly test and validate and integrate API products

You will lead the end-to-end product strategy for non-production environments, test data services, API Simulation capabilities, on-boarding workflows, and developer testing experiences.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

  • Own the product vision, strategic direction, roadmap, and lifecycle for the sandboxes and associated developer testing capabilities
  • Design and optimise the end-to-end sandbox developer journey from registration through to integration testing
  • Reduce friction in the developer journey, for example in API on-boarding, credential generation, environment setup, test execution and trouble shooting and support
  • Drive improvements to API documentation quality, quick start guides, sample applications, SDK’s and harnesses and Error Handling and diagnostics
  • Collaborate with API Product Managers and engineering teams to ensure APIs are sandbox-ready ahead of release, with clear onboarding and certification standards for new APIs entering the ecosystem.
  • Improve developer testing and integration outcomes by providing meaningful test scenarios, realistic responses, and consistent failure-handling patterns, supported by scalable self-service tooling for developers.
  • Ensure sandbox environments meet enterprise control requirements, including security, data privacy, auditability, access management, and operational resilience, with defined policies for synthetic data use and non-production data controls.
  • Partner with risk and operational teams to manage vulnerabilities and platform risks, and to establish appropriate monitoring, observability, and operational support models.
  • Define KPIs and telemetry to measure sandbox adoption and effectiveness (e.g., time to first API call, time to first successful integration, uptime/reliability, API test pass rates, developer onboarding completion, support ticket reduction, and environment provisioning time) and use platform analytics plus developer feedback to prioritise roadmap investment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
