About the Role

Our client is an established, heavily backed payments automation platform that moves money for finance teams at scale — payroll, supplier payments, spend management and collections — through a single platform connected to the accounting and payroll systems their customers already use. They are a regulated payments institution with more than a decade of trading, several thousand business customers from fast-growing SMEs to global enterprises, and 500 staff across four international offices. The business is profitable and expanding into new verticals and new geographies.

Product marketing is being rebuilt from the ground up and there is currently nobody in the function. A permanent Head of Product Marketing and a team beneath them are being recruited, but the work cannot wait for them. This interim role exists to set the strategic foundations now and to produce the materials itself — messaging frameworks, positioning, ICP definition and the enablement that follows. It sits above Senior Product Marketing Manager level and below Head of, and it is a heavyweight individual contributor role rather than a management one. You will have the ear of the marketing leadership and an unusually clear run at defining how this business talks about itself.

Location and Working Pattern

This is a 6 month hybrid contract based in the client's central London office, with approximately three days a week on site and the balance remote. Candidates need the right to work in the UK. The engagement inside IR35.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Role Details

  • Set the positioning and messaging strategy for a multi-product platform, and then write it — this is a role that does the work as well as directing it.
  • Build the messaging frameworks and core narrative, and define the ICP across the priority verticals: travel, lending, corporate business payments, and SME and accountants.
  • Adapt recently refreshed messaging across the core verticals so it lands consistently wherever the business shows up.
  • Produce the enablement that follows from the messaging, so the commercial team can use it immediately rather than waiting for a permanent team to arrive.
  • Contribute to a planned entry into a new international market, where draft messaging already exists and an external go-to-market partner is engaged.
  • Support a significant website restructure and rewrite, where the vertical narratives need to land on the page.
  • Work alongside a new vertical proposition being readied for launch, and the testing of further verticals beyond it.
  • Use AI workflows to compress research synthesis, message testing and content production — a focused team doing the work of a much larger one.
  • Hand over cleanly to the incoming permanent Head of Product Marketing and their team. Pricing and packaging is explicitly out of scope.

Experience and Competencies Required

  • A senior product marketing individual contributor who has owned positioning, messaging and ICP definition end to end in B2B, and who writes to a very high standard.
  • Payments or fintech experience, or direct experience marketing into one or more of the client's verticals — travel, lending, corporate business payments, or SME and accountants. For this interim engagement that domain knowledge matters more than it would for a permanent hire, because there is no ramp-up period.
  • A track record of arriving into an empty or dismantled function and producing usable strategic assets quickly, without a team to delegate to.
  • Comfortable building messaging from real customer research and win/loss insight rather than internal opinion.
  • Credible with product, sales and executive stakeholders, and able to hold a position under pressure.
  • Real fluency with AI, not just everyday use: workflows and agents you have built and shipped yourself. There is an AI component to the selection exercise.
  • Available at short notice, able to be on site in central London around three days a week, and willing to work through a compliant umbrella arrangement.
  • Right to work in the UK
