About The Role & Team
The Senior Product Owner (PO) for ‘Modern App Platform’ is a senior member of the ICE Product Owner Community, accountable for maximizing the strategic business value of the internal platform products delivered. As a Senior Product Owner, you will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, shape multi-quarter strategy, and act as a role model and mentor to other Product Owners within the organization.
The Senior PO has a high degree of knowledge in Kubernetes and cloud-native application delivery. As this is primarily an internal-facing role within the Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering (ICE) division, the Senior PO is accountable to the Head of Platform Product Management for the product and its outcomes. The role works in close interlock with Platform Architecture on how the platform is built, and with Platform Operations on reliability and cost. These products form the backbone of the “Developer Superhighway” that the wider portfolio builds upon.
This role owns the strategy and roadmap for our container platform — including the multi-tenant ICE k8s ‘Viv’ platform, the self-service AKS Terraform modules, DevSecOps pipeline templates, and the central Azure Container Registry. The Senior PO uses internal customer insight, market awareness, and their own experience to define the capabilities that help SITA’s development teams deploy containerized workloads quickly, securely, and reliably, in line with our Production Readiness Standards.
Beyond day-to-day backlog ownership, the Senior PO is expected to drive platform adoption at scale, influence senior stakeholders across GEOs and portfolios, and lead internal “Design Partner” programs that shape the future of the platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You’ll Do
- Own the product strategy & vision for the Modern App Platform, ensuring alignment with our paved-road and “Platform as a Product” approach.
- Set and communicate a multi-quarter roadmap, balancing strategic platform investment against tactical demand, and articulating the “what” and “why” to executive and engineering audiences alike.
- Deeply understand our internal customers’ (portfolio development teams) needs and the operational outcomes they want when running cloud-native applications at scale.
- Own end-to-end delivery of the product, ensuring scope includes the tasks required for the operability of the Kubernetes (AKS/Viv), container registry, and DevSecOps pipeline solutions.
- Manage the Product Backlog and populate it with artifacts that provide the next level of detail to support delivery of the roadmap.
- Specify Functional Requirements, Non-Functional Requirements & Acceptance Criteria to a high standard.
- Own the commercial picture - know the costs of a delivery in detail and in real-time, driving Cloud FinOps governance, container right-sizing, and value-for-money decisions.
- Define PI/Release time-boxes and the MVP for each release and work with the Scrum Team to define Sprint goals and attend Daily Stand-ups and Sprint Planning; accept (or reject) the team’s work at the End of Sprint Review.
- Lead adoption at scale - champion the platform to the wider SITA engineering community, run pilot / Design Partner programs, and measurably grow adoption of Viv and the paved-road products.
- Partner on reliability - work with Platform Operations to define SLOs and error budgets for the product, and factor operability and toil reduction into the roadmap rather than carrying them as separate work.
- Mentor and uplift other Product Owners in the organisation’s PO Community, sharing best practice, coaching on backlog and stakeholder management, and helping to raise product maturity across the platform organization.
