About the Role

Manpower are currently seeking an interim Senior Product Technologist (Food) to work with our global FMCG client The Magnum Ice Cream Company, renowned for brands such as Magnum, Ben & Jerry's, Cornetto and Wall's, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based at our client's Research & Development facility, at Colworth Science Park, in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire (MK44), accessible by car or shuttle bus from Bedford train station.

This is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying between £40,000- £50,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

Job Purpose

As part of the Ice Cream Global Development Centre, you will play a crucial role in delivering the Global Ice Cream Programme, supporting/leading NPD and business continuity projects for the Global Innovation within the ED&I team.

Collaborating closely with internal functions (Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement) and external partners (Third-Party Manufacturers, ingredients suppliers), this fast-paced opportunity allows you to channel your passion for creativity and deliver delicious and sustainable product experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and execute a variety of project types under guidance of line manager, working closely with R&D experts from a variety of fields.
  • Collaborate with dynamic marketing teams to define the scope of projects early on, working closely to ensure innovation timings and adaptability to business needs.
  • Creatively input and help influence the direction of innovations; meeting brand, consumer, and business needs, creating innovative products at the forefront of the industry.
  • Lead/support end-to-end technical delivery of projects, encompassing a range of project responsibilities; from concept development to specification writing and ensuring nutritional compliance.
  • Lead and manage pilot plant trials as part of product development and feasibility testing, using a range of industrial and semi-industrial equipment’s, ensuring efficient and seamless transfer to production scale.
  • Write and manage specifications and systems data for the products you work on.
  • Manage supplier relationships, partnering colleagues in procurement to ensure effective working relationships and access to the very best and most innovative ingredients.
  • Apply TMICC development tools (Risk Analysis, SWOT analysis, Quality in Innovation, Open Innovation, 5S, ICE).
  • Develop captivating selling stories to support customer development teams.

About You

  • Passion for creative food product design and delivering outstanding consumer experiences, putting smiles on our consumers faces.
  • Strong team player, with excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and meticulous approach to experimentation, data recording and analysis – always striving for the best.
  • Able to effectively manage your time, setting clear priorities and planning accordingly.
  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) and / or relevant experience in a technical discipline preferably in food technology or product development.

Desirable

  • Experience of working cross-functionally and with third parties.
  • Experience of leading delivery of projects from brief to market.
  • Working knowledge of a global networking (e.g. Asia, Turkey, EU etc.)
