How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and engineering support across production and manufacturing operations, ensuring products are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with quality and configuration requirements. The role acts as a key interface between Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams, driving continuous improvement, managing engineering changes, maintaining manufacturing documentation, and supporting product lifecycle activities including configuration control and component obsolescence management.

This position also plays a key role in improving manufacturing processes, supporting operational performance, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring robust engineering standards are maintained throughout the product lifecycle.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX Technologies, your core responsibilities as a Senior Production Engineer will include:

  • Act as the primary technical interface between Production/Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams, ensuring effective communication, issue resolution, and completion of all associated documentation.
  • Lead the creation, validation, and maintenance of part numbers, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product structures for new and existing products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with configuration standards.
  • Creation and management of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), coordinating cross-functional reviews and implementation activities in line with Engineering Design Authority and Production Management requirements.
  • Proactively monitor component obsolescence, identify suitable alternatives, and drive continuity plans to minimize production and supply chain risk.
  • Take full ownership of the Manufacturing Data Pack for ECS products, ensuring documentation is accurate, controlled, and aligned with production and customer requirements.
  • Lead and implement mechanical and electrical/electronic design updates, supporting continuous improvement, manufacturability, and cost-reduction initiatives where appropriate.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for configuration management processes, governance, and associated engineering management plans, ensuring full traceability and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop, review, and continuously improve Assembly Instructions and manufacturing documentation to support operational efficiency, quality, and standardization.
  • Own and drive the Production Feedback Register, ensuring issues are investigated, corrective actions are implemented, and lessons learned are captured and communicated.
  • Provide support to Sales and Commercial teams for the generation, validation, and management of part number/model descriptors and customer-specific configurations.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and production staff, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing across the business.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve production efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
