Senior Production Engineer
Location: Oxfordshire, UK

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Production Engineer to lead the manufacturing support, industrialisation, and scaling of manual, semi-automated, and fully automated assembly processes for cutting-edge fluidic products.
This is an active, workshop-focused role where you will get involved in building, debugging, and commissioning assembly fixtures, robotic cells, and custom test equipment. You will play a crucial role in taking novel products from R&D concepts through to robust, high-yield, high-throughput production.
Key Responsibilities
- NPI & Transfer: Partner with R&D and Design teams to seamlessly transfer new fluidic products into high-volume manufacturing.
- Process Development: Develop and debug advanced assembly processes, including plastic laser welding, precision dispensing, leak testing, and laser marking.
- Automation & Hardware: Build, wire, and commission assembly fixtures, robotic cells, vision systems, and electrical enclosures.
- Controls & Systems: Modify wiring and troubleshoot PLCs, Safety PLCs, HMIs, fieldbus networks, and hardware sensors/actuators.
- Validation: Lead FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ activities adhering to GAMP expectations and quality standards.
- Optimization: Utilize root-cause analysis, FMEA, and SPC tools to optimize yield, cut costs, and boost process reliability.

Key Requirements
Must-Haves
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics (or equivalent), or a formal apprenticeship backed by significant hands-on industry experience.
Industry Background:
- Proven experience in production or manufacturing engineering within medical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or a similarly regulated environment.

Hands-on Mindset:
- A genuine willingness to get into the workshop to build, wire, debug, and tune machinery personally.
Technical Skills:
- Practical 3D CAD skills and electrical schematic creation.
- Solid understanding of PLC, Safety PLC, HMI systems, and industrial networking.
- Equipment and process validation experience (FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ).
Desirable (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience programming or integrating 6-axis, SCARA, Delta, or Cartesian robots.
- Background in fluid handling processes (dispensing, jet valves, leak testing).
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 / ISO 9001 standards and GAMP principles.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification and proficiency in Minitab.
