Sports, Conferencing and Events Venue | West Midlands | Up to £50,000

Do you lead technical production for live events and want to do it at one of the UK's busiest venues? This is a chance to head up the production team behind a full calendar of conferences, banquets, exhibitions and high-profile events.

Sporting Jobs is working with a leading Sports, Conferencing and Events Venue to appoint a Senior Production Manager. You'll lead a team of Event Production Managers and run the technical delivery of every event: setting high standards for safety, managing budgets tightly and making sure each event looks and sounds as it should.

The Role

You'll report to the GM of Conventions and manage a team of four, setting the direction for technical production across the venue's conference and events spaces. You'll lead the team and still be hands-on, stepping into delivery and supporting your team when events need it. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, developing and allocating work across a team of Event Production Managers
  • Planning and delivering the technical elements of every event, balancing client, catering and production needs
  • Owning Health & Safety across production, including documentation, hazard walks and compliance
  • Managing crew scheduling, staff hours, equipment costs and production budgets
  • Taking responsibility for forecasting, cost control, invoicing and finding upsell revenue
  • Supporting the sales team with technical expertise, upselling AV and room theming to raise production values
  • Reviewing hall technical specifications and bringing new ideas from across the live events industry
  • Line managing the Technical & Production Administrator

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
