BBI exists to help our customers create advances that improve health and save lives. We are seeking a Senior Production Scientist to join our team. This is a fixed term (12 months), full-time position based at our site in Crumlin. Join our team: advancing health, together.
The Role
The Senior Scientist is responsible for MRT recombinant protein production. The role requires knowledge in molecular biology, fermentation, protein expression and purification. In addition to the manufacturing of recombinant proteins, the role may require Lateral flow development work and the senior scientist to work closely with wider MRT team and the end customer.
In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Include
- The manufacture without supervision of recombinant proteins for the use in lateral flow assays, both upstream and downstream
- Perform in-process testing and quality checks of products where required.
- Compliance with BBI’s quality system requirements.
- Completing non-conformances, deviations and CAPA’s within BBI’s quality system.
- Keeping and reviewing GMP compliant records.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure smooth production
- Ensuring batch record completion is up to date and accurate.
- Adherence to all SOPs, EPs and relevant documents
- Generate new documentation and complete change requests as necessary
- Lead validation activities, including reviewing new production procedures and manufacturing pilot and validation batches.
- Operating various pieces of production equipment associated with the manufacture of Recombinant Proteins
- Maintenance, calibration and cleaning of designated equipment and production areas.
- Adhering to Health and Safety regulations
- Responsible for maintaining individual Training Record
- Lead process failure investigations and troubleshooting (when required) for MRT Recombinant proteins.
- Sourcing and purchasing of new equipment, consumables and materials

You Should Apply If
- Scientist with a degree based in Biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology or Immunology (related subjects may also be acceptable).
- Experience in Life science, IVD, Biotech or Pharmaceutical industries
- Knowledge of recombinant protein manufacture and working with purified proteins
- Cell cultivation
- Purification technologies for proteins
- Manufacturing Experience
- Design of Experiment and statistical analysis of results
- Ability to author SOP’s/ reports
- QC assays
