About The Role
The Program and Delivery Manager is a senior partner to our Product and R&D leadership – someone who brings structure, clarity, and momentum to how we plan, prioritize, and deliver. You will work across Product and R&D to own the roadmap planning system that keeps our goals clearly defined, well-sequenced, and consistently achieved.
This role is about enabling Mimecast’s Product and R&D organization to deliver on its commitments through partnership – creating the shared systems and rhythms that increase team velocity and delivery predictability, and equipping Engineering Managers and Product Managers to own their outcomes fully.
You will also play a strategic role in identifying patterns of friction, cross-functional misalignment, and systemic blockers – bringing structured analysis and solutions to leadership so that teams can move faster and with greater confidence.

What You’ll Do
Planning, Roadmap & Priority Ownership
- Partner with Product and R&D leadership to build and maintain the area’s roadmap – a clear, ranked view of priorities across the portfolio and at the team level – ensuring the right work is resourced, sequenced, and always owned.
- Maintain full capacity visibility across your area – who is on which team, what they own, and what can realistically be committed to – so that planning decisions are grounded in reality.
- Drive the translation of business goals into sized, sequenced deliverables with clearly owned dates – working in partnership with Product Managers to ensure estimates are grounded, commitments are realistic, and dates are held to once set.
- Own the commitment list – the set of outcomes the organization will stand behind – keeping it visible, current, and actively protected across planning cycles.
Execution & Delivery Rhythm
- Lead a consistent weekly cadence with Product and R&D leaders to review progress, allocate resources where they are most needed, and resolve blockers before they become delays.
- Take active ownership of risk and dependency management across your area – identifying risks early, tracking mitigations to closure, coordinating across teams, and escalating decisively when the path to resolution requires it.
- Keep priorities visible at the team level so that day-to-day work stays connected to the goals the organization has committed to.

AI Enablement & Team Efficiency
- Act as an active enabler of AI adoption across Product and R&D – identifying where AI tools can meaningfully improve how teams plan, build, and deliver, and working with leaders to remove the barriers to adoption.
- Partner with Product and R&D teams to embed AI-powered workflows into everyday practices, from sprint planning and documentation to code review and quality assurance.
- Track AI usage and outcomes across the organization, using data to demonstrate impact, surface opportunities, and build the case for continued investment in AI-driven ways of working.
Pattern Recognition & Systemic Improvement
- Look across teams and workstreams to identify recurring friction, bottlenecks, and cross-functional misalignment – and bring structured analysis and proposed solutions to leadership rather than simply flagging problems.
- Contribute to the evolution of shared delivery practices across Product and R&D – from planning cadences and estimation norms to definitions of done – making what works repeatable and retiring what does not.
Metrics, Velocity & Reporting
- Own the metrics picture for your area – tracking delivery-flow indicators such as cycle time, lead time, deployment frequency, and work in progress, alongside Jira hygiene and completion against commitments – and ensure the data is reliable and acted on.
- Build and communicate a clear narrative of team velocity – not just what shipped, but how the team’s ability to deliver is trending over time – and use it to drive continuous improvement conversations with leadership.
- Tailor reporting for both technical and executive audiences, ensuring the right level of detail reaches the right people at the right time.
Developer Experience & Team Health
- Stay attuned to the health of the teams you support – monitoring signals of friction, process overhead, or unsustainable pace – and work with leaders to address them before they affect delivery or retention.
- Champion purposeful, lightweight processes that improve flow, and actively challenge ceremony that has become overhead without value.
What You’ll Bring
- You have done this before – ideally across multiple engineering teams in a SaaS or cybersecurity environment. You know what good planning looks like, you have held people accountable without direct authority, and you have built the kind of visibility that makes leadership informed and confident.
- A background in Technical Program Management, Delivery Management, or Engineering Program Management – with at least 5 years working across multi-team Product and R&D organizations.
- A track record of owning roadmap planning and execution end-to-end – not just facilitating the process but being accountable for the outcome.
- The analytical capability to build a metrics framework, interpret delivery-flow data, and turn signals into a coherent narrative that drives decisions.
- Strong cross-functional influence – the ability to drive alignment and accountability across Product, R&D, and leadership without relying on organizational authority.
- Fluency in agile delivery practices, technical enough to engage credibly in trade-off, estimation, and risk conversations with engineering teams, and pragmatic enough to apply frameworks without being dogmatic about them.
- Exceptional communication skills – able to translate complex delivery dynamics into clear, actionable insight for both technical teams and senior leadership.
- A genuine interest in how AI tools are changing the way Product and R&D teams work, and a drive to accelerate adoption where it creates real value.
- High ownership and a team-first mindset – you bring problems with proposed solutions, you follow through, and you measure yourself by what the team achieves.

The base salary range for this position is £68,000 to £102,000 plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location with individual compensation also dependent on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills. Final offers will reflect these considerations and may vary accordingly.
