Senior Programme Manager
Sheffield (Hybrid)
Contract until March 2027
Up to £625 per day (Umbrella)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Programme Manager to lead the delivery of complex, enterprise-scale data, technology, and business transformation initiatives within a leading banking environment.
This is a high-profile role requiring a seasoned programme delivery professional with a proven track record of leading large-scale change across technology and business functions. You will be responsible for driving strategic programmes from inception through to implementation, managing multiple workstreams, senior stakeholders, budgets, governance forums, and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated financial services organisation.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, influencing senior executives whilst maintaining oversight of programme delivery, risk management, financial controls, and governance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale strategic programmes and transformation initiatives.
- Manage integrated programme plans, roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, resources, and budgets.
- Provide leadership across cross-functional teams including Technology, Finance, Risk, Operations, and PMO functions.
- Drive programme governance through Steering Committees, Programme Boards, and executive reporting forums.
- Manage and maintain programme RAID logs, ensuring risks and issues are proactively identified and mitigated.
- Oversee change control and scope management processes.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Ensure successful delivery across Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall environments.
- Drive programme performance through effective reporting, KPIs, and delivery metrics.
- Manage financial forecasts, budget tracking, vendor relationships, and resource planning.
- Ensure compliance with governance, audit, regulatory, and control requirements.
- Act as the senior escalation point for programme-level decisions and delivery challenges.

Essential Experience
- 12-15+ years' experience delivering complex programmes within Banking or Financial Services.
- Strong background leading large-scale technology, data, regulatory, or business transformation programmes.
- Proven experience managing multiple workstreams and large cross-functional teams.
- Extensive executive stakeholder management experience, including engagement with Directors, Managing Directors, and Programme Sponsors.
- Strong programme governance, PMO, dependency management, and RAID management expertise.
- Experience managing programme budgets, forecasting, and financial controls.
- Demonstrable delivery experience within highly regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of audit, compliance, risk, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and decision-making skills.

Qualifications
One or more of the following is preferred:
- PMP
- PRINCE2 Practitioner
- MSP
- SAFe
- Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)
- Equivalent Programme Management certification
