Senior Programme Manager

Client: Banking | Financial Services
Location: Sheffield
Working arrangement: 3 days on-site per week
Contract length: Until 31/03/2027
Rate: £600 per day INSIDE
Clearance: Must be eligible for BPSS

Your new company

You will be joining a major programme of change, supporting the delivery of strategic data, technology and business transformation initiatives within a highly regulated banking environment.

Your new role

As a Senior Programme Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of complex, enterprise-scale programmes and projects. Working across multiple business and technology functions, you will lead strategic transformation initiatives, ensuring delivery against timelines, budgets, governance standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of large-scale strategic programmes and project initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain integrated programme plans, delivery roadmaps, budgets and resource plans.
  • Coordinate multiple workstreams and manage complex interdependencies.
  • Provide leadership across technology and business teams, including Finance, Risk, Operations and other stakeholders.
  • Drive programme governance through Steering Committees, programme boards and executive reporting.
  • Manage RAID logs, ensuring risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies are proactively addressed.
  • Oversee change control and scope governance processes.
  • Influence senior stakeholders to support effective decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Deliver programmes across Agile, Hybrid and Waterfall environments.
  • Ensure successful execution of requirements, development, testing, implementation and operational readiness activities.
  • Establish and track delivery KPIs, metrics and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage programme budgets, financial forecasts, vendor relationships and resource requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with audit, regulatory and internal governance requirements.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for programme delivery issues.

Essential skills and experience

  • 12-15+ years' experience delivering large-scale technology, data, regulatory or business transformation programmes within banking or financial services.
  • Proven experience managing complex programmes with multiple workstreams and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong executive stakeholder management experience, engaging with Directors, Managing Directors, Programme Sponsors and Steering Committees.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering strategic change in highly regulated environments.
  • Extensive experience in programme governance, PMO disciplines, RAID management and dependency management.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise technology delivery, data transformation, operational risk and regulatory change.
  • Experience managing budgets, resource planning, financial forecasting and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to lead delivery across Agile, Hybrid and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong understanding of audit, compliance, regulatory and control frameworks within global banking organisations.

Desirable skills and experience

  • PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP), SAFe or equivalent certification.
  • Experience delivering enterprise-wide data, finance, risk, regulatory or technology transformation programmes.
  • Knowledge of banking regulatory frameworks and control environments.
  • Experience leading large international delivery teams across multiple regions and markets.
