This role will involve:
Programme Management

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Stakeholder Engagement
- You’ll lead stakeholder engagement at all levels, from scheduling volunteering days with corporate partners, to checking in with employer partners on how young people are progressing in their roles.
- You’ll support youth engagement and outreach activity where needed.
Team Contribution and Leadership
- You’ll line manage up to two members of the programmes team, holding regular check-ins, providing feedback, and supporting their goal-setting, development and retention.
- You’ll develop others through mentorship, guidance and feedback, particularly in areas where you have stronger knowledge or experience.
- You’ll support hiring, onboarding and training as the team grows.
- You’ll help shape the organisation for the future, sharing feedback and ideas, and researching, proposing and testing new approaches that support team and organisational learning.
What we're looking for
We’re especially interested in candidates with demonstrable experience owning programme delivery and managing others, alongside strengths in areas like curriculum development, volunteer management, or monitoring and evaluation. You don’t need to have worked in youth employment or the charity sector before, but a commitment to our mission and good understanding of the barriers to work faced by young people from low-income backgrounds is essential.
This is an experienced hire role, and we’re looking for someone with solid professional experience, including some prior experience managing or mentoring others, who can apply sound judgement and hold real ownership in a fast-moving environment. You don’t need to have a degree.
Programme ownership and delivery
- You have a track record of independently planning and delivering a programme or project end-to-end, setting your own milestones and adapting when timelines or expectations shift.
- You’re comfortable managing multiple priorities at once, and delivering to a high standard in a fast-paced environment.
Line management and development of others
- You’ve supported someone else’s development directly - through formal line management or informal mentoring - holding check-ins, giving constructive feedback, and helping them grow.
- You’re someone others can turn to when they need guidance, particularly in areas where you have stronger knowledge or experience.
Strategic thinking and problem solving
- You can think creatively, spot where a system, process or piece of delivery isn’t working, and take the initiative to improve it.
- You respond positively when things don’t go to plan, and can manage both the day-to-day detail and the bigger picture.
Communication and facilitation
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good attention to detail.
- You’re confident facilitating workshops and delivering training yourself, and able to help less experienced colleagues build their own confidence in the room.

Relationship building
- You’re comfortable building relationships with a wide range of people, including partners and volunteers, and representing the organisation in a warm and professional way.
- You’re able to build trusting relationships with young people. You approach others with empathy, warmth and good judgement.
Resilience and a growth mindset
- You can operate well in uncertainty, learn as you go, and stay motivated through challenges. Adaptability and perseverance are crucial to the success of the young people on our programme, and it’s important that our team models these behaviours too.
We work with a diverse group of young people from underserved communities. We encourage applications from candidates from minoritised ethnic backgrounds, and those who have lived experience relevant to our programme - particularly non-graduates and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
How we work
We’re a small but fast-growing team. You’ll join our staff team (and office dog) working day-to-day in the business, but will also engage with young people, our funders and partners, our Board, and many of the amazing volunteers who help us deliver our programme.
We use Slack, Notion and Claude day-to-day to keep in touch and support our work across the team. Our team works together in-person at least three days a week at GoodWork HQ, our beautiful space on Warren Street in central London where we host events, deliver training and work with our community.
You’ll need to be able to attend occasional in-person events, including possible evening sessions for which time off in lieu will be given. You should also expect to attend regular in-person meetings with our London-based partners.
