Company description:

MTX Solutions is a sovereign UK digital engineering company delivering advanced simulation, software and systems capabilities for defence, government, games and safety-critical industries. We combine defence expertise with world-class games engineering to tackle complex technical challenges where performance, security and reliability are critical.

Through our Defence Technology as a Service (DefTaaS) model, we work with government, primes, SMEs, academia and specialist partners to deliver advanced digital capability at pace. We bring together exceptional engineers and domain specialists from across industries to tackle complex problems others can’t, combining different disciplines, experience and ways of thinking to create capabilities with real-world impact.

Role Description:

We are looking for experienced Senior Software Engineers who are capable generalists, comfortable working across multiple areas of development and tackling a broad range of complex technical challenges. Experience with Unreal Engine would be highly desirable, although it is not essential.

Depending on project requirements, you may contribute to mission-critical defence applications, advanced simulation and training systems, immersive technologies and game development projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
