Job Title: Senior Project Accountant, Europe

Industry: Design Consultancy & Construction

Salary Guide: £60,000 - £75,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Our client is a private equity backed, global design group, operating out of nearly 50 offices in more than a dozen countries and generating c. $400m of revenue across four regions. The European business, headquartered in London, is now seeking a Senior Project Accountant to take ownership of project accounting across the region, partnering closely with Project Managers and senior stakeholders to drive commercial performance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this Senior Project Accountant, Europe role will include:

  • Partnering with Project Managers and senior stakeholders to provide commercial guidance, improve financial understanding, and support decision-making.
  • Reviewing project financial performance, identifying commercial risks and opportunities, and escalating key issues to senior management.
  • Leading regular project governance and commercial reviews, including oversight of project costs, forecasts, profitability, cash flow, and project close-out.
  • Managing project financial controls, including work in progress, invoicing, debt collection, revenue forecasting, and gross profit tracking.
  • Supporting project budgeting, pricing, cost-to-complete forecasting, labour utilisation analysis, and post-project reviews.
  • Preparing and presenting regular operational and commercial reports, including revenue forecasts, pipeline analysis, project performance, and key risk reporting.
  • Acting as the key finance contact for project-related queries, providing guidance to Project Managers and regional finance teams on financial processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Driving compliance with project governance standards, financial controls, and company policies.

Specific skills required to succeed in this Senior Project Accountant, Europe role include:

  • A professional accounting qualification along with project accounting exposure, ideally with an international remit or within a multinational organisation.
  • Experience in a project-based business such as professional services, construction, technology or similar.
  • A confident communicator who enjoys building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Patient and approachable, with the ability to support and educate non-finance teams without relying on technical jargon.
  • Highly proactive, anticipating business needs and offering solutions before problems arise.
