Senior Project Accountant

Maidenhead (Hybrid Working)
Up to £70,000 per annum + Bonus

The Opportunity:

We're partnering with a high-growth, project-led organisation seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to play a key role in strengthening financial control and supporting continued expansion. This is a highly visible position where you'll take ownership of project accounting across a varied portfolio of contracts, from short-term service projects to large-scale, multi-year programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own monthly revenue recognition, including percentage of completion accounting, WIP, accrued and deferred revenue.
  • Lead project cost accounting, accruals, provisions and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Produce and develop project financial reporting, providing meaningful insight into project performance and profitability.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts through to gross margin at both entity and consolidated level.
  • Manage intercompany accounting and support external audit and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with operational and commercial teams to ensure financial positions are accurate, supported and clearly understood.
  • Drive improvements in systems, controls and reporting processes.
  • Support and develop junior finance team members.

About You:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant.
  • Strong experience within project, contract or revenue accounting environments.
  • Excellent understanding of percentage of completion accounting, WIP, accrued and deferred revenue.
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS 15 principles and UK GAAP (FRS 102).
  • Experience producing management accounts within a multi-entity environment.
  • Strong Excel and ERP systems experience.
  • Able to communicate complex accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded, inquisitive and comfortable challenging assumptions to ensure accuracy.
