Senior Project Co-ordinator

Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea

About Us

We’re Open Age, the charity empowering all older people in London to stay active, stay curious and stay connected.

We believe feeling supported as part of a community is the key to living well for longer – isolation can have a devastating impact on older people, affecting their mental and physical health. Right now, 60% of our members live alone.

But they are not alone.

Open Age is creating an inclusive community for everyone to take part in enjoyable activities – from art to foreign languages, yoga to walking football – whoever they are and however they choose.

No one else does what we do. For over 30 years, our unique ‘meet, move, learn’ formula has been supporting members to get out of their homes and into our community.

Our goal is to empower all older Londoners to find their purpose and their people, helping them get more out of life at every age.

We are now looking for a Senior Project Co-ordinator to join us on a permanent, part-time basis, working 28 hours per week across four days.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £29,000 per annum FTE (£23,200 per annum for 28 hours)
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays and one extra day off for your birthday (pro rata)
  • Employer and employee contribution to pension in line with auto-enrolment pension requirements (3% employer contribution)
  • Hybrid working, offering a flexible combination of office and home-based working
  • Access to the Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Training opportunities
  • An inclusive work environment welcoming people from all backgrounds

This is a rewarding opportunity for an empathetic individual with experience delivering a successful project or service and supporting volunteers and working with people from diverse backgrounds to join our inclusive organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll have the chance to lead a service that helps older people regain confidence, independence and connection after a fall, stroke or illness, whilst regaining their independence and rediscovering a sense of connection and purpose.

What’s more, with hybrid working and 28 hours spread across four days, you’ll have greater space to balance meaningful work with life outside the role, while still benefiting from training opportunities and a supportive, inclusive culture.

So, if you’re ready to lead a service that helps older people feel stronger, more connected and more confident in everyday life, read on and apply today.

The Role

As a Senior Project Co-ordinator, you will lead the development and delivery of our Be Active Step-Down Service, supporting isolated older people across Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea to stay active, independent and connected following a fall, stroke or other illness.

Working closely with referral partners, you will co-ordinate referrals and match older people with trained volunteers who will provide motivational companionship and support them to maintain their exercise programme over nine weeks.

You will oversee each placement, ensuring referrals are appropriate, risks are managed, and clients and volunteers receive the support they need.

Alongside this, you will oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the service, tracking project targets and outcomes, and providing reports to funders and management.

Additionally, you will:

  • Lead the recruitment, training and ongoing support of volunteers
  • Line manage and support the Project Co-ordinator
  • Lead the marketing and promotion of the service
  • Highlight safeguarding concerns where appropriate
  • Connect clients with further Open Age activities and other services
  • Maintain accessible and appropriate project communications
