Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop products across multiple brands and categories, including schoolwear, sportswear, accessories and lifestyle products.
  • Take products from initial concept through design, sampling, technical development, fitting, approval and production.
  • Research trends, competitors, materials, fabrics, manufacturing techniques and sustainable product solutions.
  • Develop mood boards, trend boards, colourways, prints, graphics and product ranges.
  • Prioritise sustainability, durability, functionality, longevity and commercial viability.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers throughout development.
  • Manage sampling, fittings, amendments, quality checks and final approvals.
  • Create technical packs, specifications, measurements, artwork, construction and material details.
  • Product sign-off and production handovers, ensuring suppliers have accurate information.
  • Manage the implementation of branding updates across technical packs, labels and samples, reviewing and approving submissions and coordinating additional/Gold Seal samples where required.
  • Liaise with factories and suppliers to ensure branding requirements are accurately implemented, while tracking progress across both brands and following up on outstanding submissions and approvals.
  • Review existing ranges and identify opportunities to improve product, reduce duplication and strengthen the overall offer.
  • Keep up to date with market trends, innovations, sustainable materials and competitor activity.
  • Use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign confidently for design concepts, artwork, technical drawings and presentations.
  • Plan photoshoots, including creative direction, styling, shot lists, models, samples and schedules.
  • Design and coordinate exhibition stands, merchandising, displays, logistics and installation.
  • Plan and coordinate product selection, samples, stand design, merchandising, graphics, logistics, set-up and breakdown.

Essential skills & experience

  • Proven product design and development experience from concept to production.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, fit, measurements and manufacturing.
  • Experience with technical packs, suppliers, fittings and product amendments.
  • Understanding of sustainable product design and material selection.
  • Experience managing multiple brands, products, projects and deadlines.
  • Strong creative, commercial, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Degree in Fashion Design or similar.
  • Approximately 3-5 years' experience in apparel design.

What are my hours and working days

This is an 11 month maternity cover contract, starting 1st November to end of October 2027, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The role is hybrid with two days WFM and 3 days in the office.
