Job Opportunity: Senior Project Development Manager

Metlen Energy & Metals is looking for an experienced Senior Project Development Manager to join our growing team in London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Head of Project Development, you will play a key role in scaling Metlen’s energy infrastructure pipeline across the UK and Ireland, supporting projects from the assessment of early-stage opportunities through development, commissioning and eventual sale.
  • Supporting the Head of Project Development in implementing the strategic development plan for the UK and Ireland.
  • Coordinating and supporting the London-based project development team, including mentoring team members.
  • Managing and coordinating the development of multiple energy infrastructure projects, primarily across Solar PV and BESS.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying key risks and ensuring development activities remain aligned with agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Participating in buy-side due diligence processes for potential project and portfolio acquisitions.
  • Supporting sell-side transaction activities, working with internal teams and external advisers.
  • Coordinating closely with EPC, Grid, Legal, Finance and other internal departments to progress project development activities.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including authorities, consultants, development partners and other industry participants.
  • Supporting local development partners and ensuring effective coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitoring the UK and Ireland energy market, regulatory environment and relevant policy developments.
  • Providing regular updates and reporting on project status, key milestones, risks and opportunities to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Legal Studies, Business Management or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure project development, ideally with significant exposure to Solar PV and BESS.
  • Strong understanding of the renewable energy development lifecycle and the ability to manage projects from early-stage development through to delivery.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and coordinating cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience supporting or participating in M&A, buy-side due diligence and/or sell-side transactions.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise competing demands and deliver against deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland as required.
