Contract Project Engineer – Digital Engineering
Reading – 3–4 days per week onsite
Active security clearance is essential
£80.55 p/h Inside IR35
I’m looking for experienced security cleared Project Engineers to support a number of exciting Digital Engineering workstreams within a highly secure Aerospace & Defence environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable Project Engineer who can sit at the interface between Engineering and Delivery, coordinating complex technical activities and helping drive projects through to successful delivery.
What we’re looking for:
- Active SC Clearance – essential
- Ability to work 3–4 days per week onsite in Reading
- Minimum 3 years' experience within Aerospace & Defence
- Experience delivering complex technical projects or engineering work packages
- Strong project planning, scheduling, critical path and milestone management experience
- Experience managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and change control
- Strong stakeholder and cross-functional coordination skills
- Experience with estimation, resource planning, forecasting and progress reporting
- Experience working in complex, regulated engineering environments
- Experience within Digital Engineering, simulation, test, through-life support or similar engineering lifecycles would be highly desirable.
- Qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2, PMI, Agile or scheduling certifications would also be advantageous.

What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinating technical activities across engineering teams and stakeholders
- Managing technical risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and change
- Supporting project plans, schedules, roadmaps and delivery milestones
- Providing first-level technical leadership and decision-making
- Acting as a key escalation point for engineering issues
- Managing technical interfaces across customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Supporting technical reviews and milestone assessments
- Tracking progress against project objectives and deliverables
- Supporting effort estimation, resource planning and capacity management
- Ensuring adherence to engineering governance, processes and standards
- Working closely with architects, engineers and delivery teams to ensure alignment
