Overview
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex and high-profile projects, providing technical leadership and coordination across the project lifecycle. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will collaborate closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required technical and quality standards.
Based from any of our UK offices (Birmingham, Manchester, or Edinburgh), this is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role within PM Group’s UK operations, contributing to the successful delivery of projects for major national and international clients. You will have the opportunity to develop your technical and project leadership experience while supporting the continued growth of our business.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, ensuring designs and technical solutions are aligned with project requirements, programme, and budget.
- Develop and review project engineering deliverables, specifications, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure quality and compliance.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and wider project team to develop and implement effective project execution strategies.
- Coordinate engineering activities with Clients, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders, managing interfaces, and resolving technical issues.
- Support the development and management of project schedules, resource requirements, budgets, and engineering deliverables.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, design changes, and engineering issues, ensuring appropriate mitigation and resolution.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant statutory, regulatory, Client, and PM Group requirements, including Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
- Provide technical input into procurement, tendering, and contractor activities, including review of specifications, technical submissions, and supplier documentation.
- Support construction, commissioning, and validation activities, providing technical guidance, and ensuring engineering deliverables are successfully implemented on site.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and other members of the project team, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation with a recognised engineering body is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in delivering complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects within the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical sector.
- Strong technical experience in the design and delivery of projects from concept through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Experience working within an EPCM or similar project delivery environment, with a good understanding of project execution and engineering management processes.
- Strong understanding of engineering design, technical documentation, project controls, and relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing interfaces between engineering disciplines, contractors, suppliers, and Clients.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify technical challenges and develop practical, effective solutions.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver engineering activities to agreed quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Self-driven and collaborative, with a strong focus on technical quality, safety, Client service, and successful project delivery.
- Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced engineers, and contribute positively to the wider engineering and project team.
