Wates Construction is seeking an experienced Project Engineer

Wates Construction is seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in structural construction to support the delivery of complex, high-value projects across London.

Working closely with Project Managers, Design Consultants and Site Teams

You will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring structural works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, quality and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage structural engineering packages from design through to construction.
  • Review and manage technical drawings, specifications and design information.
  • Support the delivery of reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, foundations and temporary works packages.
  • Ensure engineering solutions are safe, buildable and compliant with project requirements.
  • Manage RFIs, technical queries and design changes.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, consultants and site teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor quality, safety and programme performance on site.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout construction.
  • Support planning, sequencing and installation activities to improve efficiency and reduce risk.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Proven experience delivering structural construction packages within a main contractor or specialist contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel structures, foundations and temporary works.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methodologies and buildability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Chartered status or professional membership (ICE/IStructE) desirable.
