We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role on a high-profile project, providing technical leadership and engineering assurance throughout the delivery lifecycle while developing your career within a dynamic and supportive environment.
As part of the Engineering Function and embedded within the project delivery team, you will lead the delivery of complex electrical engineering packages from concept through to handover. Working closely with project teams, specialist suppliers, and key stakeholders, you will provide technical oversight, governance and assurance to ensure electrical systems are designed, procured, installed, assessed, and commissioned safely, efficiently and in full compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to influence engineering strategy; mentor developing engineers and contribute to the successful delivery of nationally significant infrastructure within a highly regulated environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of complex electrical engineering work packages throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and engineering assurance across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Manage electrical engineering activities from design and procurement through to installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Coordinate engineering interfaces across multiple disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Review and approve technical documentation, engineering deliverables, and design solutions.
- Support design development, constructability reviews, and commissioning strategies.
- Lead the management of technical risk, engineering change, and design integration activities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, statutory requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.
- Support procurement activities, supplier engagement, and technical evaluations.
- Lead engineering reviews, audits, and assurance activities.
- Manage engineering resources, workload forecasting, and delivery plans.
- Support programme governance, reporting, and performance management activities.
- Mentor and develop engineers, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental performance.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with membership of the IET or an equivalent professional body.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards professional accreditation, is desirable.
- Experience delivering electrical engineering packages across major infrastructure, industrial, energy, or construction projects.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholders, and coordinating contractors and supply chain partners.
- Experience managing projects through design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Strong understanding of engineering assurance, technical governance, risk management, and change control.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering design, installation, testing, and commissioning principles, including LV/HV systems.
- Understanding of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, electrical safety legislation, isolation procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Knowledge of quality management systems, inspection and test plans, Permit to Work systems and document control processes.
- Awareness of NEC contracts and commercial project environments.
- Experience working in regulated, safety-critical, or high-hazard industries, with nuclear sector experience desirable.
- Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control systems is advantageous.
- Experience mentoring and developing engineers is desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Initiative-taking approach to delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions.
