ACCIONA is a global company, leading in the development of regenerative infrastructure that creates a positive impact on society. Our workforce consists of more than 65,000 professionals, present in more than 40 countries across the five continents, all contributing in our mission to design a better planet. Are you a passionate individual who wants to make a difference, promote sustainable development, and find solutions to the biggest global challenges including climate change, overpopulation, and water scarcity? Come and join us in building the infrastructure our planet needs to achieve a sustainable future.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Asset Protection) to join the Technical Office team on the Thames Water Coppermills Resilience Project.

This is a key technical assurance role that will provide specialist geotechnical and asset protection expertise throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with Design, Construction, Temporary Works, Survey, BIM, Asset Protection, and Client teams, you will assess and manage risks associated with construction activities that may affect existing assets, utilities, structures, and operational facilities.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that engineering solutions are technically sound, construction risks are effectively managed, and the integrity of Thames Water's existing infrastructure is protected throughout project delivery.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Asset Protection), you will:

  • Provide geotechnical and asset protection advice to project, design, and construction teams.
  • Review engineering designs, technical reports, calculations, and construction methodologies to ensure they are technically robust and suitable for delivery.
  • Assess the potential impact of construction activities on existing assets, structures, utilities, and operational infrastructure.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and management of geotechnical and construction-related risks.
  • Develop and review mitigation measures to safeguard existing assets throughout construction.
  • Review temporary works proposals and construction methodologies submitted by contractors and designers.
  • Support monitoring, inspection, and technical assurance activities during construction.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk workshops, constructability reviews, and technical assurance processes.
  • Liaise with designers, contractors, consultants, client representatives, and key project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the resolution of technical issues arising during project delivery.
  • Review and prepare technical reports, engineering assessments, and project documentation.
  • Support compliance with project specifications, industry standards, Thames Water requirements, and engineering best practice.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of asset protection strategies and risk management plans across the project.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
