Senior Project Lead - Gas Capping and No Access Projects

We’re looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Project Lead - Gas Capping and No Access Projects. At Southern Housing, we are committed to creating communities where everyone has a safe home in a place they are proud to live. This role plays a critical part in improving resident safety, strengthening compliance performance, and supporting the successful delivery of our Transformation Plan and Strategic Plan objectives.

Reporting into the Transformation Programme Team, you’ll be responsible for leading complex transformation projects that improve statutory compliance, operational effectiveness, resident safety, and regulatory assurance across the organisation. You’ll work closely with Asset Compliance, Housing Operations, Technology, Legal Services, Customer Services and Data teams to deliver sustainable solutions that improve organisational control, visibility, accountability and resident outcomes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Leading high-profile compliance and transformation projects designed to strengthen governance, resident safety and regulatory assurance.
  • Developing project plans, business cases, governance frameworks and benefits realisation plans, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, budget, quality and timescales.
  • Driving improvements across key compliance disciplines including Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, Water Hygiene, Asbestos Management and Access Management.
  • Redesigning operational processes, implementing service improvements, and identifying opportunities for automation, digitisation and increased efficiency.
  • Improving compliance data quality, reporting and governance, while using insight and performance information to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.

You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by developing sustainable operating models, embedding new ways of working, improving accountability and helping Southern Housing maintain a strong regulatory position.

This role can be based from our offices in Farringdon, Croydon or Sittingbourne, with hybrid working arrangements available where appropriate and agreed with your manager. Some travel between offices will be required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is strategic, proactive and solutions-focused, with a passion for delivering meaningful change in complex and highly regulated environments. You'll enjoy leading projects, influencing stakeholders and using data-driven insight to improve services and resident outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • Relevant experience: Delivering complex projects, transformation initiatives and business change programmes, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Skills and knowledge: Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, benefits realisation, operational process design, performance reporting and programme delivery methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid.
  • Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving ability: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, develop practical solutions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Organisation and prioritisation: Experience managing budgets, resources, risks, dependencies and multiple priorities to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to build effective relationships across business functions, suppliers and external partners to deliver change collaboratively.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working within a fast-paced and evolving environment, leading change and supporting organisational transformation.

Desirable experience includes social housing, property management or compliance functions, alongside knowledge of statutory compliance areas such as Gas, Electrical, Fire, Water Hygiene and Asbestos Safety.

You’ll be part of the Transformation Programme Team, working together to deliver strategic programmes that improve compliance performance, resident safety, operational effectiveness and regulatory assurance across Southern Housing. The team collaborates closely with operational directorates, technology teams, legal services and data specialists to deliver sustainable improvements that reduce risk, improve services and create better outcomes for residents.
