Apex Contractors Limited is a Chartered principal contractor delivering complex construction projects across the South East and East of England. Working across the education, care, commercial and community sectors, we specialise in schemes ranging from £2m to £20m, including new build, refurbishment and occupied-site environments.

Role Overview
To provide leadership and overall accountability for the successful delivery of major, high-value or complex construction projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
The Senior Project Manager will lead project teams, manage commercial and operational performance, drive programme certainty, quality and safety standards, and develop strong client and stakeholder relationships to ensure projects are delivered in line with business objectives, governance requirements and client expectations. The role shall be based on one of our sites in the areas specified in Company Description. It is not an office based role.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead project delivery from pre-construction through to completion and handover
- Ensure delivery to programme, cost, quality and safety targets
- Develop and manage project execution strategies and programmes
- Deliver Progress Reporting to client, consultants & executive team
- Operate within company governance frameworks, policies and procedures
- Manage project risks, delay mitigation and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Manage stakeholder relationships and client expectations
- Coordinate consultants, supply chain and design team performance
- Monitor programme performance and implement mitigation measures
- Drive health, safety and quality standards (Zero Harm approach)
- Lead, mentor and develop teams
- Support bid and pre-construction activities
- Maintain a high standard of digital competence by effectively using the Company’s systems, software and technology platforms relevant to the role, ensuring accurate information, timely reporting, compliance with Company procedures and the successful delivery of operational and business objectives
- Continually identify, develop and support social value opportunities, actively promoting initiatives that deliver lasting benefits for projects, local communities and stakeholders while supporting the Company’s social value objectives.

Knowledge Skills and Experience
- Significant experience delivering complex construction projects within a main contractor environment
- Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle including pre-construction, procurement and delivery
- Excellent commercial and financial management capability including forecasting and cost control
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to manage risk and deliver projects to programme and budget
- Sound knowledge of construction processes, contracts and statutory/compliance requirements
- Programme experience ie., Asta
- Experience working within structured governance and reporting environments
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIOB) and valid CSCS card
