Job Description

Role Overview

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the timely and effective delivery of a portfolio of technology-led projects, in support of AJ Bell’s strategic objectives. The role involves working closely with the Sponsor of the portfolio to identify and prioritize projects within the portfolio and delivering individual projects through the delivery lifecycle; from project entry through to go-live and post-implementation. The Senior Project Manager is an SME in their field, able to provide mentorship and management of less experienced Project Managers. Projects are undertaken primarily to deliver technology-driven change in support of the evolving technology landscape. However, given the wider financial backdrop, experience of delivering IT change in a financially regulated environment would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing Delivery: Overseeing the delivery of a portfolio of technology-led projects and initiatives.
  • Project Management: Managing the delivery of projects oneself and monitoring the progress of initiatives led by other Project Managers and SMEs.
  • Prioritization and Guidance: Prioritizing and providing guidance on the selection of projects.
  • Mentorship and Management: Providing mentorship and/or line management responsibility of less experienced Project Managers.
  • Complex Project Delivery: Delivering complex IT projects often working with third-party suppliers to implement a hybrid of internal and external solutions.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Establishing and maintaining effective and trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and external third-party suppliers.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinating and driving the collaboration of project resources to get the best from project teams.
  • Resource Management: Producing and monitoring resource forecasts and budgets and following appropriate change control procedures when changes are required.
  • Reporting: Regularly reporting on the status and health of the portfolio and individual projects to sponsors and wider stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Risk Management: Effectively managing project risk and dependencies, and assessing for any potential risk to consumer outcomes posed by the project.
  • Customer Protection: Ensuring that all duties are carried out with the aim of protecting customers and improving customer experience.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Supporting and enabling the business to achieve its regulatory requirements, including consumer duty.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
