Job Description
This role is for a Senior Project Manager who will deliver four Ammunition Processing Buildings (APBs). This is a key leadership role and will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex civil engineering and infrastructure under NEC4 forms of contract. The role requires an experienced project leader from a civil engineering/construction background, capable of managing projects through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover in a highly regulated environment.
This role will suit a senior delivery professional with strong experience in heavy civils, structural, or infrastructure works, and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors and consultants, and drive safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery against demanding programme objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate project teams to deliver outstanding results and drive a culture of excellence.
- Champion Health & Safety, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships to achieve successful project outcomes and business objectives.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, managing scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk from inception through to handover.
- Lead procurement activities and NEC4 contract delivery in line with MOD policies and governance requirements.
- Ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets, timelines, and performance targets.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement through regular feedback and effective contract management.
- Deliver accurate project, commercial, and performance reporting while meeting assurance and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to business growth and operational excellence by leading continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects within highly regulated environments.
- Strong track record of managing projects across the full lifecycle, from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Sound knowledge of NEC4 contracts, commercial management, change control, risk, and project governance.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors and consultants to achieve successful project delivery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.
- Chartered status (or working towards it) and a commitment to professional development.
⭐ Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering Defence, utilities, heavy civils, or major infrastructure projects.
- NEC4 ECC Accredited Project Manager, APM qualification, or SMSTS certification.
- Experience using CEMAR or similar contract management systems.
