Senior Project Manager

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our Secure Infrastructure (MOJ) team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering the Yorkshire & Humber region. This role is working 37.5 hours a week (Monday to Friday).

This is a key role responsible for delivering a diverse portfolio of refurbishment projects across the prison estate. You'll lead a team of up to six Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service.

Working within a complex and highly regulated environment, you'll play a crucial role in improving prison facilities that support operational effectiveness, staff wellbeing, and safer environments for those who use them. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your career within one of the UK's leading infrastructure and facilities management organizations.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers, providing direction, coaching, and support to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Deliver a programme of refurbishment and construction projects across the prison estate, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Build strong relationships with Ministry of Justice stakeholders, customers, and supply chain partners to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Promote and champion a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and safe systems of work.
  • Drive commercial performance through effective budget management and sound financial decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the project portfolio.

What You Will Bring

Essential

  • Significant experience delivering construction, refurbishment, or property maintenance projects.
  • Proven experience leading and developing operational or project delivery teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and client relationship skills, ideally within the public sector.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and financial performance.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, safe systems of work, and project governance.
  • Construction-related qualification (ONC or above, or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Chartered status, or working towards Chartership with CIOB, RICS, or a related professional body.

Desirable

  • SMSTS qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to undergo appropriate security clearance and vetting processes before employment can commence. This may include BPSS and Ministry of Justice security vetting requirements. Eligibility to work in the UK will be required.
