My client, a charity that helps people within the community, are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who combines strong project delivery expertise with exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and consultancy skills.
This role is about much more than managing a project plan, tracking milestones, and reporting against budget. You’ll need to be someone who can build trusted relationships, understand different perspectives, navigate complexity, and bring people together around a common outcome.
You’ll operate confidently with senior leaders, business teams, technology specialists, operational colleagues, and external suppliers. You’ll know when to provide support, when to challenge, and how to influence without relying on formal authority.
If you naturally take a consultancy-style approach—asking the right questions, understanding the underlying problem, providing constructive challenge, and helping stakeholders make informed decisions—this could be the role for you.
About the role
As Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of complex and critical business and technology change, ensuring projects deliver meaningful outcomes, benefits, and value in support of organizational priorities.
You’ll provide leadership across multidisciplinary teams and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll manage competing priorities, dependencies, risks, and delivery challenges while keeping everyone focused on the bigger picture.

A key part of the role will be creating the environment for successful delivery: building confidence, establishing clarity, facilitating difficult conversations, and enabling effective decision-making.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading complex business and technology projects from initiation through implementation and closure.
- Building strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, business teams, IT, operational colleagues, suppliers, and delivery partners.
- Acting as a trusted adviser and constructive challenger to stakeholders, helping them navigate complexity and make effective decisions.
- Facilitating workshops, planning sessions, and decision-making discussions across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Managing competing priorities, expectations, and delivery challenges constructively.
- Bringing together multidisciplinary teams and creating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership.
- Maintaining effective control of plans, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and change.
- Ensuring projects remain focused on business outcomes, benefits, and value—not simply delivery of outputs.
- Providing clear insight and reporting to support senior-level decision-making and prioritization.
- Managing suppliers and ensuring delivery commitments, responsibilities, and quality expectations are actively managed.
- Ensuring change, engagement, communications, training, and business readiness are integrated into delivery.
- Managing implementation, transition, and effective handover into business-as-usual.
- Providing constructive challenge and leadership across a matrix environment, without relying on formal line-management authority.

What you will bring
- Strong experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
- A proven track record of delivering complex projects and managing competing priorities.
- Strong risk, financial, supplier, quality, and governance management skills.
- Experience facilitating workshops and decision-making with diverse stakeholder groups.
- The ability to provide leadership and constructive challenge without formal line-management responsibility.
- Experience managing organizational, process, data, or technology change.
- An understanding of business readiness, implementation, adoption, and transition into business-as-usual.
- Practical experience of recognized project management methodologies such as PRINCE2, MSP, AgilePM, or equivalent.
- A relevant project or programme management qualification would be desirable.
