Full-time · Permanent · UK · Fully remote · £40,000–£50,000 · Reports to Rich Cross, Head of Delivery

Why we need you

JH is an ecommerce agency that helps ambitious retailers get to number one or stay there. We are coming off the back of three back-to-back "best year evers", firmly against the trend of the industry around us, and the work in front of us keeps getting better.

That is where you come in. You take day-to-day ownership of delivery for the majority of one pod's client accounts: building the relationships, keeping the work moving and giving the team the clarity they need to do their best work. You work alongside the Head of Delivery and the wider team to hold our delivery standards high, spot risk early and keep improving how the pod runs.

Our clients are ambitious retailers, and they expect a project manager who knows their business as well as their backlog.

The processes, tooling and pod model are established. What we need now is someone with the judgement to run with them.

This role is great for someone who

  • Stays calm when a date moves, and says so early rather than hoping it sorts itself out.
  • Wants to understand what a client needs, which is not always what they ask for, and is kind enough to tell them the difference.
  • Cannot walk past a stale Jira ticket.
  • Gets a small thrill from a well-written acceptance criterion.
  • Asks the developer the question instead of nodding along.
  • Notices that something fixed for one client would help three others, and says so.
  • Would rather fix the process than work the weekend.
  • Has a personality people are glad to have on a call: warm, direct and good company, even when the news is not good.

What you'll do

  • Define. Work with clients to understand what they need and turn it into clear epics, stories and acceptance criteria the team can build from. Handle change requests openly: no surprises, no spin.
  • Plan. Build plans that give the team direction and clients confidence. Run sprint planning where the priorities are clear and the why is understood. When things shift, say so straight away.
  • Test. Agree what done looks like before the build starts. Treat quality assurance as shared ownership, coordinate feedback calmly and make sure releases are prepared for rather than scrambled into.
  • Monitor. Run stand-ups and check-ins that move things forward. Write progress reports that clients and leadership can trust without checking the detail. A good one reads as though there is a second PM on the account nobody is paying for. Track budgets so they inform decisions, and keep Jira honest enough that nobody has to ask what is really going on.
  • Support. Build working relationships with clients and colleagues where the difficult conversation happens early. Use your judgement to resolve issues, keep delivery moving and bring in the right people when you need senior input.
  • Improve. Spot what could be better, then make it better. When you fix the same thing twice, turn it into a process the whole pod can use, and take the bigger ideas into JH's internal R&D.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What success looks like

Within three to six months:

  • You run delivery for the majority of your pod's client accounts day to day, with the Head of Delivery and the wider team there for escalation and senior client conversations.
  • Clients feel the improvement in attention, with no gap from the handover.
  • Your reporting is trusted without anyone needing to check the detail behind it.
  • You have turned at least one recurring, one-off fix into a repeatable piece of process for the pod.
  • You are shaping how the pod delivers as well as working inside it.

The skills and mindset we value

  • Delivery experience. You have run digital projects end to end in an agency or a similarly fast-moving environment, rather than supporting someone else who ran them.
  • Client ownership. You are comfortable owning the relationship directly and making the call when priorities shift instead of waiting to be told.
  • Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source. Our version of this role is more specialised than most agency PM jobs, because our clients expect it. You are properly comfortable with Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source delivery, and familiar with common integrations such as Adyen, Algolia, Dotdigital, Nosto and Trustpilot.
  • Technical confidence. You can talk development, testing and deployment with the team and ask the question that matters. You will use Jira, Harvest and Forecast every day.
  • Judgement over hours. When something is under pressure, your instinct is a better process or a clearer conversation. You take ownership without being chased and flag the thing that is wrong instead of quietly absorbing it.
  • Calm and direct. You ask questions early rather than assume, keep steady when things get complicated and do not let problems quietly grow.
  • Coordination. You can keep a multidisciplinary team moving across time zones.
  • Remote-first. We have been fully remote since 2020, so you bring self-motivation, strong async communication, a properly set-up home office and ease with Slack, Google Meet and Loom. Occasional travel for team and client meetings.
  • A head start with AI is a big advantage, and we will teach you the rest.

We are hiring for the long term, so personality matters most. We want someone who adds to the culture here and is still glad they joined in five years. Experience in agency delivery helps, and the person comes first.

  • A structured handover into your accounts, with ongoing support, coaching and development from the Head of Delivery and the wider team.
  • Fully remote, with flexible working built around your life.
  • Flexitime, weekly team sessions and regular socials.
  • Investment in your training and certifications: anything you want to formally pick up or carry on. We hire for the long term and invest accordingly.
  • Room to contribute to JH's internal R&D, shaping the tools, process and ideas that change how we deliver for clients.
  • Real autonomy, plus the tools (AI included) to do the job brilliantly.

How to apply

Send your CV and a short note answering two questions:

  • What is a project that went sideways, and how did you handle it?
  • What is something you changed in how a team delivers that stuck?

We read every note.
