Senior Project Manager

Rate: £525 per day
Location: Glasgow
Working arrangement: Hybrid, 2-3 days per week on site
Contract length: 6 Months
IR35 status: To confirm
Clearance: BPSS required

Your new company

You will be joining the Student Loans Company to support the delivery of large and complex programmes.

Your new role

As Senior Project Manager, you will provide strategic leadership across complex, large-scale programmes involving application and infrastructure delivery. You will take responsibility for effective programme delivery, financial oversight, realistic estimation, and senior customer engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead large, complex and cross-service-line programmes.
  • Provide strategic leadership and troubleshoot complex programme delivery issues.
  • Manage third-party suppliers effectively.
  • Oversee project monitoring, control, and forecasting.
  • Apply appropriate methods and techniques to assess and manage programme risk.
  • Maintain financial and cost awareness while managing senior customer relationships.
  • Work across both waterfall and Agile delivery environments.

Essential skills and experience

  • Programme Management proficiency at Level 6.
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience working in delivery management.
  • Experience of successfully delivering large and complex programmes with a labour value exceeding £10 million and teams of more than 100 people.
  • Experience of managing at least five major programmes covering both application and infrastructure delivery.
  • Experience gained within medium to large organisations with turnover between £250 million and £2 billion.
  • A strong track record in realistic estimation, financial management, and cost control.
  • Customer-facing and behavioural skills suited to taking responsibility for major projects.
  • Understanding of waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Proven experience in deal shaping, strategic leadership, and troubleshooting complex programmes.
  • Senior-level project, programme, and people leadership skills across a variety of contexts.
  • Proven experience of supplier management, project controls, forecasting, and risk management.
  • BPSS clearance or the ability to meet the required BPSS clearance standard.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a rate of £525, for a hybrid contract based in Glasgow requiring 2-3 days per week on site.
