We're on the hunt for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join our Manchester team working on our high‑profile defence project. At Dalkia Engineering, we pride ourselves on designing, delivering, and commissioning electrical and mechanical installation systems in a variety of industry-leading buildings.

What you’ll be doing

The Senior Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the mechanical aspects of the projects from initial concept through to successful completion. The role ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with required quality, technical, and regulatory standards. This position provides strong technical leadership while supporting project teams and maintaining close collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

Project Leadership

  • Lead and manage all mechanical engineering aspects of projects from concept through to completion.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to project teams.
  • Ensure project is delivered in line with agreed timelines, budgets, and performance objectives.

Health & Safety

  • Promote and champion a strong culture of safety excellence across all project activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of health and safety strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Mechanical Design and Technical Oversight

  • Support the development of mechanical designs for building services systems.
  • Ensure effective integration of mechanical systems with other engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure designs meet performance, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Budget and Programme Management

  • Monitor project budgets and programme schedules, identifying risks and potential delays.
  • Implement effective mitigation strategies to maintain project performance.
  • Work closely with project teams to optimise resource allocation and improve delivery efficiency.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct detailed technical reviews of mechanical designs and project deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of technical quality, documentation, and system performance.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage technical and project risks associated with electrical systems and installations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimise impact on project delivery.

Client Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with client to understand project requirements and expectations.
  • Present technical solutions, design options, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
  • Maintain strong relationships with client throughout the project lifecycle.

Who we’re looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll need a proven track record as a Mechanical Project Manager or Senior Mechanical Project Manager within the building services or MEP sector. We could also consider Senior Electrical Engineers with strong project management skills.

You’ll have a strong technical understanding of mechanical building services systems with experience delivering large-scale, complex projects.

In addition, you will need excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills as well as experience managing project budgets, programmes, and risk.

Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and health & safety legislation.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Building Environment Engineering, Engineering Management (with a mechanical background)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS Managers Card
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance, and relevant British Standards.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering mechanical building services projects within the MEP sector.
