About The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a significant bridge rebuilding project. This role is pivotal in managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through to successful completion. The Senior Project Manager will act as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring that the project adheres to safety, quality, sustainability, and environmental standards. The position requires a strategic leader capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams, engaging with stakeholders, and managing complex logistics associated with large-scale civil engineering projects. The role offers a competitive day rate of £475 to £500, working on a remote basis with occasional visits to Oxford offices and project sites during the project duration.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience managing major infrastructure projects, especially complex civil engineering schemes.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget parameters.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications or qualifications in project management or civil engineering.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK highways standards and bridge construction practices is highly desirable.
- Experience working collaboratively with contractors, engineers, local authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the entire bridge rebuilding project from initial planning and design phases through to project completion, ensuring all objectives are met.
- Manage procurement processes, including contract negotiations and management activities, to ensure compliance and value for money.
- Monitor project progress against established milestones, proactively addressing any delays or issues to keep the project on track.
- Identify potential risks and challenges early, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain effective relationships with local authorities and key stakeholders, facilitating communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Represent the client’s interests, ensuring project delivery aligns with their expectations and standards.
- Ensure all project activities comply with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
- Promote sustainable practices and ensure the project adheres to best practices in environmental responsibility.
- Foster clear and consistent communication channels, engaging stakeholders effectively to facilitate project progress and resolve issues.
