Senior Business Change Project Manager

Prestigious Commercial Insurer

Leeds

JH-3189

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Change Project Manager to join one of the UK’s most prestigious commercial insurers.

This role has come about due to a forthcoming retirement within the team – a lady who joined 10 years ago as a Contractor, who has remained there ever since! During the briefing call, she told us, "It’s such a brilliant culture here. The opportunities are endless and I can’t think of any better place to be a Senior PM."

Featuring prominently in the press, and winning the most prestigious industry awards and plaudits, this insurer is expanding significantly and enjoying 20% year on year growth. With its highly innovative approach, commitment to launching the best-in-class products, and its unwavering focus on being true market leaders, this is an opportune time to join the company.

Due to the ongoing growth of this organisation, we know of no other insurer that can match its career development opportunities. This is a business where everyone’s successes are highly visible to the board, who take meritocracy and reward & recognition very seriously.

Role Overview

The Senior Project Manager role is a key component of the UK Business Change team which supports the delivery of strategic projects, working with cross functional teams across the whole of the business and with third party system providers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In line with this insurer’s significant growth plans, you’ll be involved with a wide range of fascinating projects, which could include things such as helping to deliver new products, optimising the performance of existing offerings, introducing automation and efficiencies, and assisting other non-insurance arms of the business.

Key Responsibilities

In this varied role, your duties will include, but certainly not be limited to:

  • Managing the larger, more complex projects within the UK Portfolio plan
  • Instigating and chairing Project Working Groups and Steerco meetings with key stakeholders and sponsors
  • Working with the project governance framework, following the project delivery lifecycle as applicable
  • Ensuring architectural coherence within the project and programme
  • Creating and gaining acceptance for a communications plan that enables thorough and timely communication with all stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the delivery of new products or services from the project/s meets project requirements and is to the appropriate quality, on time and within budget

Requirements

You’ll be an experienced Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager from either the Insurance or Financial Services market, with knowledge and experience of project management methodologies; Prince 2 Practitioner, Agile.

With demonstrable PM experience, you will be well-versed in managing 3rd party vendors and internal stakeholders, and have a proven track record in driving the delivery of complex projects. You’ll be experienced in workshop design and facilitation and have excellent presentation and communications skills. Just as importantly, you’ll be rigorous when it comes to planning and execution, and have strong budget management capabilities. As you will be working closely with IT Solutions Architects, and technically-competent Business Analysts, it is not essential that you are highly technical from an IT perspective, but you must have the ability to translate technical jargon into more simple terms for your project sponsors and stakeholders.
