M&E Project Manager (Building Services)

Our client is a household name within commercial property & engineering, with a wealth of customers across the corporate, financial services, healthcare space. Due to the mobilisation and growth of one of the largest developments in the UK, which they provide M&E service delivery across a large-scale estate in West London which comprises offices, retail, residential and events space. Guideline salary for the position is in the range of £80 – 90,000 basic, and also includes a £5,000 car allowance, pension, and opportunity for a discretionary bonus.
About the Role
The role requires someone who has at least five years experience within M&E Projects & Small Works / Fit-Out, and crucially have progressed from a “on-the-tools” role. This necessitates a mechanical / electrical engineering background, ideally through a full apprenticeship. An experience within large-scale, mixed use sites would be advantageous, as well as events / premium office space, etc.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Deliver multiple small works, fit-out, and M&E projects autonomously
- Manage complete project lifecycles from specification through closeout
- Balance competing stakeholder demands in pressured, time-sensitive environments
- Solve issues rapidly with minimal client impact

Contractor & Team Leadership
- Manage contractor performance to client's exacting standards
- Lead diverse teams across varied project types
- Provide technical guidance on M&E and fabric disciplines
- Conduct quality audits on subcontractors
- Implement HR procedures and performance management
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure H&S legislation compliance including CDM regulations
- Maintain risk assessments and method statements
- Uphold zero-harm culture and client duty of care
- Manage contractor safety performance in live environments
Financial Management
- Budget control and project costing
- P&L responsibility contributing to portfolio profitability
- WIP tracking and debt management
- Monitor project costs against forecasts
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Proactive client liaison reinforcing organisation’s value proposition
- Manage expectations in high-profile commercial and events spaces
- Deliver client satisfaction that supports retention and reputation
- Report on project progression with transparency

Operational Excellence
- Plan and develop project specifications
- Monitor progress and set realistic end dates
- Conduct workload review and resource planning
- Perform quality audits maintaining standards and aligned operational frameworks
Business Development
- Pipeline development to increase annual turnover
- Identify additional service opportunities within existing client relationships
- Contribute to company’s portfolio growth strategy
- Deepen client relationships through proactive value delivery
Qualifications
- IOSH or higher (mandatory)
- SMSTS (mandatory)
- CSCS Gold Card (preferred)
Technical Competencies
- Competent working knowledge of M&E systems
- Understanding of building fabric disciplines
- Ability to oversee complex, integrated building systems typical of premium commercial venues
Professional Experience
- Industry-relevant qualifications and proven track record
- Operational experience leading diverse teams
- Performance management to KPIs using operational MI systems
