Senior Project Manager

About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of one or more high-value, complex projects within the UK Defence arm of QinetiQ, specifically in the Land & Weapons division. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining positive engagement with project customers and partners.
  • Delivering against project outputs in alignment with agreed baseline targets, such as:
    • Customer satisfaction
    • Time
    • Budget
    • Quality
    • Cash flow
    • Sales outcomes

Your core responsibilities will encompass:

  • Maintenance of forecasting, including financial forecasts and resource demand signals.
  • Application of governance requirements for foundation sales and delivery work.
  • Ensuring accurate data entry into SAP, including:
    • Order value
    • Order intake scenarios
    • Bid due dates
    • Closing dates
    • Sales stage
    • Margin
    • Revenue profiles

Essential Experience for the Senior Project Manager

  • Demonstrated capability to International Project Management Level B standard.
  • 3–5 years of experience leading business, projects, programmes, portfolios, or P3 (Project Programme & Portfolio) functions.
  • Excellent track record in delivering complex projects with measurable results.

Essential Qualifications

  • Qualification: APM (Association for Project Management) or Prince2 certification.
  • Degree: In a relevant field (preferences open to those without a degree but who can demonstrate equivalent experience and potential).

Application & Work Location Details

This role is 37 hours per week, based at QinetiQ Shoeburyness or Fort Halstead.

Minimum site attendance must be three days per week.

Two possible work environments

Shoeburyness

  • A significant defence and security testing facility, specialising in environmental testing.
  • Tests explosives, ordnance, and related systems.
  • Focus on compliance with environmental regulations to minimise ecological impact.

Fort Halstead

  • A defence-focused research site located in Kent.
  • Competes in areas such as weapons systems and military technology.
  • High-tech laboratories conduct research in material science, systems engineering, and advanced simulation techniques.

Security clearance required for this role:

All applicants must be eligible for SC (Security Check) clearance as a minimum.
