Senior Project Manager

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in the city of London on a full-time basis with hybrid working of 2-3 days per week.

Senior Project Managers are responsible for delivering key projects within our Global Change Portfolio, supporting the delivery of projects across various areas of the business.

This role is responsible for the full end-to-end (E2E) delivery of projects, ensuring all key elements are tracked, reported and managed to a high standard to ensure successful, timely and on budget delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Project ownership: Key person to lead and drive project delivery, including the engagement of stakeholders, at all levels and SMEs.
  • Define project scope and objectives: Work with stakeholders to clearly define the scope and objectives of the project, outlining what needs to be accomplished and the desired outcomes.
  • Project planning: Ensure a clear project/programme plan is available at all times. Ensure that tasks, timelines, resources, and milestones are tracked/reported on as required by the Programme Director, Business Change PMO and stakeholders
  • Manage resources: Evaluate and allocate resources across their projects. Work pro-actively with resource owners and stakeholders to ensure this is estimated, allocated and utilised effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Budget management: In conjunction with the Programme Director, manage business change project budgets throughout the life cycle of their projects.
  • Assess the change impact: Ensure impact analysis and a change readiness assessment is conducted, and stakeholders are identified and engaged.
  • Communication: Communicate in a clear and transparent manner supporting the achievement of project goals. Act as a central point of contact and coordination to ensure project success. Coordinate and manage external parties including TPAs and fronting companies, as well as parties across the Munich Re Group. Enable the development, delivery and management of key communications to internal and, where appropriate, external parties.
  • Risk management: Identify, document and manage potential risks, issues and dependencies across their projects, ensuring there is a mitigation plan in place.
  • Stakeholder management and collaboration: Facilitate and lead effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and other relevant parties, ensuring everyone is on the same page and aware of project progress. Prepare and manage workshops and other project-related meetings with senior management, SMEs and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor, control and report progress: Monitor and report on project progress, as well as manage project planning, taking proactive, corrective actions when necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Quality assurance: Ensure project documentation and outputs meet required quality standards/specifications and are managed in accordance with the agreed portfolio governance.
  • Conflict resolution: Address conflicts and challenges that arise within the project team or with stakeholders and report/escalate risks/issues appropriately and proactively.
  • Support the development of the wider Project Delivery team: Examples include mentoring, project peer reviews, lunch and learns and other ways of sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Perform other Project Delivery activities: Take on other responsibilities from time-to-time as agreed by the Business Change leadership team.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of project managing business focused transformational changes supporting underwriting focused outcomes, within the insurance industry, with responsibility for the E2E project life cycle and delivery.
  • Experience of leading, shaping and driving multi-functional workstreams, including the matrix management of teams ranging in size from 15 – 50+ FTE, covering people, processes, data and technology, aligned with a Target Operating Model strategy e.g. Underwriting, Claims, Finance, IT, Operations, HR, Legal, Data etc.
  • Proven track record of managing projects with budgets of £5 - £20m and timelines of 12 - 36+ months.
  • Proven ability to focus on and manage complex requirements in a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines, as well as be involved in the detail, whilst retaining a high-level view of their projects.
  • Experience of working with Programme Managers, IT Project Managers and other related change management functions to deliver complex, transformational change programmes/projects across multiple regions, markets and/or product lines.
  • Deep insurance industry knowledge and an understanding of the London insurance market, with specific reference to specialty insurance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive decision making at an executive level, aligning all core business areas, as well as successfully engaging with stakeholders and SMEs at all levels.
  • Ability to adapt and deploy different communication methods and approaches to support and engage stakeholders and SMEs, across various levels.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity/change in project scope and timelines and competing priorities, whilst being resilient, adaptable and proactive in doing so.
  • Proven understanding of project management methodologies e.g. Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid of same.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate risks and issues into actionable options and recommendations.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous roles within Change functions e.g. Business Analyst, Process Specialist etc.
  • Experience of working in insurance markets outside of the UK.
  • Conversational level in either Spanish, Italian, and/or German.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • University Degree, relevant professional qualification or demonstratable industry experience is required
  • CII Certification and PRINCE 2 or equivalent is strongly preferred
  • Change Management certification desirable
  • Agile and or SCRUM certifications desirable
